Some things are nearly impossible to get in this country. Went to a hardware today looking for hydrochloric acid and the bright sparks in there told me to go to the chemist. Where can I buy hydrochloric acid in Ireland? I need 20L +

Local farm supply store shoulkd have it in 5 and 20 litre sizes. For cleaning limescale from stainless steel pipes in milkinbg machines. DO NOT mix with other chemical cleanetrs or degreasers. The fumes will easily kill you .

Thanks very much for the tip. I am using it diluted to 5% concentration in water to clean old stained terracotta floors. I will try Kerry agri and Co-Op.

In fairness to them they may have been correct. That's where one gets small quantities of methylated (sp) spirits so chemists may also stock other chemicals as well but not in the quantities that you are looking for.

BTW: 20 litres of HCL diluted down to 5% in H2O is a lot of liquid!

Isn't 'brick acid' (used for cleaning trowels etc) hydrochloric acid? If so most hardware shops should have it.
