Hi all, just grabbed a Nextbase 312GW Dashcam as a Christmas present for someone and have just realised it doesn't come with a memory card.
    http://www.halfords.ie/technology/dash-cams/dash-cams/nextbase-dash-cam-312gw?cm_re=technologyslides-_-espot+1-_-dashcam79

I see Halfords sell them for €18 but is there anywhere else they can be picked up cheaply and is there any particular format or type to be used or can I just buy use any old SD card I might have lying around?
    Thanks and safe driving.
I got the 32Gb from Halfords for my 312GW & it works fine. Also came with a soft case to hold the dashcam when not attached to the windscreen.

Has anybody used a power bank to keep a dash cam charged over the night as my car is park underground and I don't want to wire it to the fuse box.
Would a large power bank be able to charge it up for few days?
Has anybody used this set up before?

    Thanks!
    Happy Christmas!

To the best of my knowledge, the battery in the dashcam is usually designed to only last for a few minutes. They need to be either hardwired in or plugged into the cigarette lighter.

I don't think the battery lasts very long.

I found this one in Argos...
    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/3468735.htm

It's slightly cheaper than the one in Halfords
    http://www.halfords.ie/technology/dash-cams/dash-cam-accessories/nextbase-32gb-micro-sd-card

Does anyone know if this will be suitable or do they have to have a minimum write speed or spec...?

It looks similar but the one I got in Halfords had next base written on the adapter as well.
They'r both 10 speed so it should work just fine.
Other than next base written on the adapter I can't see any difference.

It will work perfect , but for me the only difficulty with 32GB is a max storage of about 4 days driving , and then it loops over data.

Its when you hear a Garda appeal for dashcam footage after an incident a week later that you realise , 32GB is not much good

I know, a 64GB isn't that much more expensive but according to the blurb this model can only take up to 32GB maximum...

My Nextbase only takes 32GB, I tried 64 but got a card error. I don't mind the shorter segments actually.

    Thanks Kuro2k, appreciate the confirmation.

Techmoan also recommended the Samsung evo, can't vouch for any other make
Just be sure to format the sd card in the camera and not on a computer.

So the format it comes in isn't the correct type? I saw the format option in the app all right.

Just ordered a Samsung Evo 128GB card so will pop that into the M6+ and format it via the app before deploying the dashcam in the car.

Any recommendations for someone in South Dublin (Stillorgan/Sandyford) to hard wire it into my car?

If you don't format via app it won't record, i only realised this after a week as it doesn't give any errors when you put it in to the camera pre format.

I get about 3 weeks driving from the 128gb card so well worth the effort getting a good card.

Anyone see any good deals on micro SD cards?
I'm gone replace my möbius this week and thought I may as well upgrade the card.

New cam is the DDPai M6 plus

Ok Folks, I think it's time to update my two cameras, after a recent incident of both my cameras deciding the take the day off and I getting run off the road, i think I need to update :D
So it's been a while since I payed attention to the latest in dashcam tech any suggestions?
Currently rocking a Mini 0801 and a Roadhawk RH-1
My RH-1 has already proved the value of dashcams so I will prefer quality over cost

    7.50 for a 16GB card, 13.50 for a 32GB and so on..

I always use Memory C. They only sell quality cards and its posted from Ireland, so next day delivery.

    https://www.memoryc.ie/flash-memory-cards/microsd.html#page=15

I wouldn't risk buying a really cheap card, they are usually fake when it looks too good to be true..

    Similar to https://www.memoryc.ie/flash-memory-cards/microsd/128gb-samsung-evo-pro-microsdxc-cl10-uhs1-memory-card-80mb-sec.html

I've had dodgy cards from Amazon before, wouldn't purchase again..

I know an excellent Auto electrician who covers North County Dublin, can pass you on his number if you're stuck. He installed my Blackvue DR750 front and rear setup. All cables hidden, he pulled the car to pieces and had the job done in 45 mins.

PM me if you want me to pass on his details.

I use a Xaoimi 20000amh powerbank and I get 4 days out of it and it's in use 6 hours a day.
It's powering a capacitor type cam(no internal battery)and it has front and rear facing cams.

Thanks for the link. It seems there are a lot of fake Xaoimi power banks on the market.

You can get it for cheaper on Ali express but you'll probably have a month or 2 wait.

    Xiaomi are a good brand.
It's hit and miss with some of the brands as the power in them fades quickly.
I have 2 cheaper powerbanks and they won't even charge my phone anymore.
And yes, keep an eye out for fakes.

Anker Powerbanks are some of the best. Get them off amazon, sold directly by the manufacturer

Do any dashcams have WiFi? Can you save/upload when in proximity of anmopen wi-fi connection or a data connection when on the go? Want to get a replacement dashcams, had a secondhand roadhawk but couldn't view the footage outside the roadhawk program, used some recommended programmes and consequently stopped using it after wasting time with it.I'd a cheap Chinese one before that but it was unreliable and more of a distraction than anything, but it had a rear camera which was good when working.

The DDpai M6+ has WiFi but it uses it to establish itself as a hotspot which your phone connects to in order to stream footage, manage the device via the app and transfer files which you can then view offline on your phone and/or store elsewhere for future reference. I don't think it uses WiFi to anything other than facilitate a connection to your phone but I'm open to correction as I'm a newbie with the M6+.

    Hi all,

I've a DDpai M6+ which I'm going to have hardwired as a front facing camera.

I hadn't really thought much about adding a rear facing camera but as I'm going to have the front hard wired I'm thinking it might make sense to get something suitable as a rear facing camera and have that wired in at the same time.

Any suggestions as to what would be a pragmatic rear facing camera?

    Lads,

Im looking to get a dashcam. Ideally would like to buy in a shop instead of online.

Is the Nextbase brand any good? Anyone have any problems with them?
