Hi
Wife broke half of front tooth today. Got an appointment with dentist ..dentist built back tooth and " hopes it lasts till Xmas" cost 140 euro. Teeth are in poor condition but this seems outrageous money to me .. appreciate views...paddy

Composites are technique sensitive especially for anterior teeth. Getting the right shade, colour, contour, shape, a good polish and finish, translucency etc all take time.

Composites take longer to do, time= money , so you have to charge more for them.

All dental surgeries should have a list of their fees displayed in writing at the reception/waiting room.As well as this, patients are usually quoted verbally for the exact cost of treatment before agreeing to proceed. If the cost is deemed excessive, the patient has the option to decline treatment & shop around?

I'd agree that the cost is on the high side. (However, I know some people who spend that on getting their hair dyed every 6weeks!)
If the dentist has warned that the filling may not last, presumably it's because it needs a crown/root canal/extraction/other? What advice was given?

Hey Paddy I would like to recommend you to consult with other dentist as well regarding the price and treatment. Also, dental bonding is the treatment that repairs your wife broken tooth.
Thanks :)
