Anyone have any experience with these tiny engines in larger cars?

They are supposed to be able to compete with the 1.6, but it seems like carrying around that extra weight may put too much pressure on the engine.

I have Titanium Focus 1.0, and so 124BHp, it is about 10% nippier than my old 1.6 and uses 10% less petrol and is grand if you keep it in an appropriate gear.

I've read from a few places that the clutch is very sensitive and there's a jerking motion when you shift gears. Have you noticed that, or is it just something you have to learn to avoid?

Someone just told me that there was a programme on "Rip Off Britian", BBC1 this morning on problems with these engines, I havn't read anything anywhere regarding any particular problems here in Ireland.

The problems with these engines have been well covered in Pistonheads, here is their superthread
    https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1446484

Seemingly mainly affects earlier produced cars up to 2015 with a published failure rate of greater than 1% (however this seems to be 1% of total engines to date so a higher percentage when you isolate the pre 2015 cars?)

With a more recent update as the tabloids have have jumped on the bandwagon.
