It's 17 degrees in the car here in north cork. Very mild for the time of the year and no need for the coat today.

Hopefully some clear spells tonight for the super moon

Going to feel very cool on Thurs especially on Atlantic coastal counties with a stiff breeze causing a significant wind chill. Big showers, wintry and possibility of thunder and hail, will be interesting seeing the reports from around the country. Met Eireann saying Northern and Western areas seeing wintry showers mainly on high ground. Cameras at the ready :)

Dense fog here in West Clare, very rare to get such dense fog from such windy and drizzly weather, usually it forms here in Calm, high pressure conditions.

Sea fog. It's from the Mayo coast all the way around to the Wexford coast.
The air temperature, the dew point and the sea temperature all very similar giving perfect conditions for sea fog.
But the major one is sea temperature and the dew point temperature are the same at the moment. Well the air temperature has to reach the dew point.
Basically they are all the same so FOG, FOG and FOG.

Its rare that it would make it this far inland though, usually never makes it here.

I'm just about at the foot of the Blackstairs and it's reaching this far.
But check out the temperature inland where there is fog.
All 13*c. That's over land. Seems to be the magic number for tonight. It's the same air temperature as over the sea and maybe someone more knowledgeable will come in but the land is a few degrees cooler or maybe it is the same as well after today's warmth.

Edit: We may watch the Met Eireann forecast after the Nine o'clock news. Hopefully they will explain the current fog conditions.

As a super moon sets in the west a super sun rises in the east, this morning earlier.

The fog at the foot of the blackstairs was not sea fog!
    It was local fog!
Suns out here again, might do a 15 or 16 today
    17.7c yesterday!

I thought that fog had a familiar accent alright.:D;)

Cloudy here with some spells of sunshine.
    Currently 14c.

Good clear patches for the moment outside here near Tralee with the Very bright moon in and out between the clouds. So bright earlier as it rose I could quite clearly make out the contrails from planes.

After a rather uneventful few months weather wise finally some interesting weather to come over the weekend.
For model watchers out there a good feature to my new website is the models page. Some out there might find it useful over the coming months.

It's incredibly wet and blustery here in south Donegal now, been ages since we've had a night like this.

Update from met eireann regarding tonight, possible severe gusts in the south west later in the night along with heavy rain.

Cold and breezy tonight with clear spells and showers. The showers will be heavy in the west and north where some may turn wintry on high ground. Later in the night a spell of heavy rain will develop in the southwest together with strong winds along the coast there and possibly severe gusts. Lowest temperatures 2 to 5 degrees with frost in sheltered places.

Passing through some heavy showers this morning on my way down to Shannon with a fair bit of sleet in the mix

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,915 ✭✭✭✭MJohnston

First time in months that I've woken up to the patter of rain on the window sills. Kind of love it tbh, but then again I don't have to leave the house today.
