I think you'll find it''s merely karma as the IT''s were first to pounce on the weak during the recession and gloat about their 100k jobs. Too bad they're lucky to even break 20k graduating these days. Wheel is always turning. Always turning.

They never made any money because the platform is not worth monetising all they have is active users and a few sponsored posts.

2 Billion Jobs to Disappear by 2030, mainly due to automation and technological development.
Obviously it will require people with qwerty keyboards to code/edit the automation process.

Jobs to go: traditional power plant workers, transport drivers (of any type), teachers, trainers, fashion producers, construction, farmers, fishing, mining, soldiers, vehicle inspectors & QA-engineers.

Job to be created: micro-power plant workers, traffic-distribution designers, software-course-ware designers, 3d printer repairers, robot designers-engineers-repairers, programmers.

Are ye all jealous about my job lol? Sure isn't IT better. I know I'd rather be stuck in a cubicle all day staring at code instead of travelling the world approving quality beer.

You don't need human operator the computer. Computer operate the computer.

Bad computer - no posting to boards on own, wait for human operator!

Will be great actually. As the hard working decent tax payer won't be funding these free loading spongers any longer. Still waiting on my 13 billion apple.

You're confusing corporation taxes with personal taxes here.

    You should retrain then.

I always wondered what happened to Jay after the Inbetweeners ended, how are ya keeping, still shagging a different supermodel every day of the week?

If IT engineers and the likes get 'replaced by computers' then ever profession will follow suit. Bit of a moot argument.

Twitter is laying off staff because the business model (or lack thereof) is failing and popularity of the platform is decreasing.

If you worked for Twitter you can pretty much walk into any job. Recruiters will have snapped up all of them before the end of their last day.

The Arts won't. Computers don't have Art.

I lost my job to a computer :mad:
But good news, I got a higher paying job running the computer that took my job. :D:D

True. But you taste beer. Which by the way depends on hipster IT workers with beards buying craft beer.

I checked and no tech jobs are threatened here.

I'm about to graduate this year in 'IT' and majority of graduate positions are offering around 30k.

Beer brewing is also computerised. Some microbrewers are known to use 'Raspberry Pi' to regulate temperatures during the process, etc.

Twitter is pointless bollocks. Civilisation is slowly coming around to this realisation. And OP, you're a very small Perl script - I replaced you years ago, remember? :D

    I am.
Just quit my job on the back of this thread and am going to start applying for a job picking potatoes.
    People always need potatoes.

    Cheers OP!

No harm to give it to them. Smug IT workers during the recession gloating in their cushy jobs. Won't be long before they're all replaced with computers anyway. And smug HR saying to upskill and learn code lol. IT the dying trade.

HR told you to upskill and learn code?

    Yeah sure

This guy doesn't taste beer for a living, its the sort of thing an employed person would say trying to be funny. He is most likely unemployed and jealous of some friends of his that have been working in IT.

Mate of mine does that at home with a little microprocessor from China that cost about 10c per-unit.
