6x6x12 pressure treated posts

    Hi all
    Looking for some advice. Looking to build a pergola and I'm looking for 6x6x12 posts for the uprights. Any have an idea on the price I'd be looking at per post? Where's best to buy?

    Think you'll find it hard to get these. I rang around several builders providers and even spoke to a sawmill. No joy.

    I ended up buying 6x3 and joining them with timberfix screws.

    Is that 6"x6" x 12 foot long ? You can get unused railway sleepers from garden centres which are close enough ?

    Were you going to concrete them into the ground? Have read a bit of advice against concrete as it rots the wood eventually, even pressure treated. Haven't any experience in this at all myself though so would be interested in your ideas.

    Sawmills will provide these if you call around, there are many spruce, Japanese larch and Douglas fir plantations in the country and mills to deal with the timber. They come in standard lengths of 3, 4.8 and 6 metre lengths.
    Sawmills usually specialise in either hardwood or softwood but some cover both.
