Hi, Question directed at an Ag science teacher or anyone knowledgeable on the marking of Ag science projects. Just wondering do teachers have to follow a bell curve when marking the projects for example they have to give 3 a1's 4a2's and not go above this quota, or can they just give the mark they feel it is worth.

Also does anyone know roughly the average mark given for the project on average, thanks.

There is no quota. They follow the marking scheme. The 'bell curve' is not applied at an individual marker level. They have to give the project the mark it is worth in relation to the national marking scheme, not in relation to others in the school/group/centre..
As to average marks, someone else can advise.

The last Chief Examiner report doesn't give stats for performance on the coursework, but it does say this:

"The standard of practical coursework in 2015 remains generally very high, with most candidates at both levels scoring significantly better in the coursework component than in the written component. Despite this, evidence continues to show that, in a significant number of centres, the practical coursework is not being treated with the importance that is its due, as outlined in the syllabus." (page 18)

I'd say from that that you could take a punt that the stats for the coursework are about a grade higher than for the subject overall, which you can check on the SEC website.
