+1. I listened to Glendenning deliver one too many sneery, ill-informed nuggets of 'received wisdom' through his left nostril, only for him to reply with something like "just a hunch" by way of justification when challenged. And he has a show on Talksport, I shudder to think how appalling that must be.

Yes that is annoying alright. He did it with the Patrick van Aanholt incident a couple of weeks back.

Ah come on, It's an accent, do you want everyone you listen to to be from Dublin?

It doesn't drive me mad that you spell did 'done'

Where did I say everyone should be from Dublin?

The use of 'done' is correct in the context I used it in, where I come from. Y'all need to be more accepting of people's colloquialisms.

    Except Murph's?

Does he? Odd that he never mentions it on the pod.

Still like and listen to Football Weekly despite it's decline in the past couple of years.

    I think it's correct everywhere.

    Edit
I was referring to the first instance of "done" in your post, your use was incorrect

Agree it could have done with another voice. Surprised they didn't get one of the English journalists on to discuss it.

Also, does it drive anyone else mad that Murph pronounces the word 'made' as 'med'? He done it on the Big Sam podcast but I've heard him do it on plenty of other pods too.

He has a west of Ireland accent like myself. Not much you can do about that in fairness unless you want to send him to elocution lessons.

Glendenning is someone I've completely gone off over time. A complete smart arse who thinks he's more clever than he actually is. I know he's mainly there as comic relief but he seems to have become more snide than funny over time.

Ah I love ken but he is that way inclined. He's just intelligent & articulate compared to others, so it doesn't stand out as much.

I don't get the hate for football weekly. it's not the same kind of show as SC at all, they'll focus more on the games themselves whereas SC like their external stuff more.
One that can grate with me times is the football ramble, you need to be in the mood for it & there's a lot of tripe in it but it has it's moments.

    Murph's "med" is a annoying.

Eoin has one that really annoys me me too. I think it's "bekem" instead of "became", not 100% sure at the moment but it definitely starts "be-".

    Ken's diction is perfect.

There's a word Eoin says that really annoys me, can't think of what it is now though. ..... I'll get back to you....

EDIT: Coll-yoom when he's saying column.

    Upun. Instead of upon.

    That's what it is.

Used to listen to the Ramble but gave up on it. Listening to 4 lads all constantly trying to out funny each other gets grating after a while.

Ken is intelligent, articulate and very entertaining. A brilliant communicator with a lovely turn of phrase and an ability to craft a narrative. But I often think he doesn't know that much about football. Doesn't matter because he's so good otherwise. As his pieces on the McGregor Vegas fight and the South Africa-Japan rugby match showed (and of course the Fair View) he's an outstanding colour piece journalist and that carries everything he does

Ah in fairness he knows his football, but most other sports he doesn't know very well. I still like when he gives some input however. Most of the time he gets involved in GAA chat I find myself trying to hide my grin when out and about.

He has a great memory for old football results and goals. He's our generation's Jimmy McGee

Fair point. It's something all 3 hosts have to their credit, the amount of times you'll hear statements like "remember that goal player scored in that league match in 2007?" and they'll all be like "yes". Ken is the master here though...

I think a lot of football fans have weirdly accurate memories when it comes to football, especially their team. I can't recall what I had for breakfast today, but I'd easily recall 90% of all Arsenal League Goals in the last ten years.

An usually where you were when you watched them. It is weird.

Preferably! Or failing that, at least an entertaining, insightful culchie. Not one like Murph, who's idea of funny is clumsily attempting ****e republic of telly like humour at every opportunity, often to the detriment of Ken's entertaining rambles.

Having the bantz while looking down on others doing bantz! The Ramble just seemed to end up as a glorified ad for whatever betting company sponsored them.

Football weekly is fine, can be very funny sometimes and it's decent for a quick summary of the main European leagues.

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

Yeah, the ramble sucks. It used to be a really good alternative to football weekly and the Dean Windass Hall of Fame was a great feature, but that was discarded and the ads for the betting apps and crap like that started to get more and more intrusive. Also the lads seemed to be more interested in using the ramble as mainly something to use to publicise whatever media related thing they were doing next. I don't necessarily hate "banter" being the bedrock of a show, but there was a point when the ramble went from being banter to BANTZ. And that's the point where I opt out.

My biggest issue with Football Weekly is Richadson's numerous irritating linguistic tics, notably the exaggerated 'REALLY' when someone makes a perfectly commonplace observation (also a penchant of Tom Dunne's). But I can live with it, apart having to skip the intros...

Love Richie Sadlier. His hints about clubs having a member of staff who has to be paid off for transfers to go through is intriguing.

Would love to hear a no holds barred take on it.

His frustration at the nonsense that goes on at LoI clubs was very illuminating.

Got a bit of a shock when Ritchie just "appeared" on the football show this week - like he'd emerged from a sleep from under the desk. He did seem a bit cranky alright.
