Have people actually paid to get the booklet signed by their GP? I never had to pay for mine but that's shocking to charge someone for signing a piece of paper! Apparently taxes aren't enough lol

I havent got anything yet either. I'm hoping for today or tomorrow, as I need plenty of notice to "beg" work for it off!!

No new recruitment campaign will start until 1509 has been exhausted, fact. No new squads will be entering G until at LEAST December.

    Where did you hear this?

Where has this 'fact' come from? Sounds incredibly far fetched to say the least.

The 1509 recruitment campaign commenced during the 1405 campaign...which is still ongoing! I seriously doubt that what your saying is fact.

I would take anything anyone's says on this thread with a pinch of salt.

Just went on the PSNI recruitment Website, doesn't say about January 2017 opening anymore, just says it is closed at the current time... Unless they want to get this review out the way first.

It still says it will be opening in the new year.

The first part is from a very very very reliable source. Yes Homer, it has been very farfetched but everything that's happened up to this point has been somewhat farfetched wouldn't you say?

    As for the second part..

It wont let me copy the link on here. But Google 'PSNI cheating scandal' and look for the article dated 2 September 2016 from the Belfast Telegraph. Hope this 'fact' satisfies you Homer.

:D keyword there being 'scheduled,' sure it was 'scheduled' for Sept. Yes couldn't agree more about taking everything with a pinch of salt on here, just thought I'd share like everybody else :)

The Bel Tel is hardly a source for facts now is it?

To clarify from your original post you said no new recruitment campaign will start until this current 1509 campaign has been exhausted, fact.
I would love this to be true but it goes against everything we've seen and heard in at least the last three years. The campaigns run alongside each other to ensure a continuous flow of recruits.

That is the 'fact' I and others are querying and I see no evidence in the Bel Tel article you mention. So sorry, still not satisfied.

The second part about no new squads until December is bang on and has been mentioned several times on here so all good.

Not sure how good the BelTel is with reporting facts, I try not to make a habit of scanning their pages for inaccurate reporting.

I think you need to clarify my original post again. The BelTel article was with regards to the recruitment freeze, NOT about the start of the new recruitment campaign, but I see how you could've got confused by that......................

I have that info from a very well informed person who I obviously can't name on here. But hey who really knows what will happen I suppose.

    Is it the Chief Constable?

    .......it's definitely the Chief Constable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,640 ✭✭✭Homer01

    That escalated quickly

I was only querying this 'fact' about exhausting 1509. Given recent events literally anything could happen but it did seem an odd change in recruitment.

I have many hats and if required I will certainly eat them if meestawhips is right.

    I was told the following:

IF the review goes to plan then intakes of student officers will continue in December. These intakes will be those from 1405 who have successfully passed all stages. At this time there is no scheduled date for intakes to begin for 1509 as it is subject to the recommendations and the action plan given to the policing board.

Would I be right in saying PCA, vetting, etc will be due to expire in December for those in 1405?

It would make sense to allow those in that position an extension or maybe an early retest. Maybe this review could address that.

They mentioned about our expiration date and basically stated they don't have a crystal ball at present so they are not sure what implications it will have on us however, they don't want to put any candidates at a disadvantage.

I understand the need for an expiration date but you would like to think they could move people through within the six month time frame. If not make the time frame longer. Obviously they couldn't foresee the cheating scandal but delays like this have happened before.

It'll all be worth it in the end :D

I really hope they recommend BAU with regards to the college, could be major delays if not..

I think it is Business As Usual. It could of course mean Bau; a goddess in Sumerian and Akkadian mythology.

Flip this is definately not the news I wanted to hear...
I really do not want to have to repeat pca/medical etc again through no fault of my own.
Plus seeing that a lot of lower scores are being progressed quite rapidly means a huge pool of ready candidates ready for intakes when our pca/medical etc will expire.
How many squads can garnerville hold? Was there not talk a while back of moving the training to another larger location?
Personally I am still hoping for that December intake. I need a glimmer of hope

They did say they wouldn't want to put any candidates at a disadvantage. I assume if a repeat is required it will be more of a top-up to medical / vetting, as in has anything changed between when you originally applied etc?

I heard GV can hold 4-5 squads at one time? (correct me if I'm wrong)

I would say if the report is all positive then we will be good to go, if it says had a lot of points to review including the content then I would say we are in for a wait. Roll on September 30th

I'm not actually sure how many squads gv.

I'm just conscious that when they say that no one will be at a disadvantage.. what they mean is once you redo your pca/medical again etc you go back to your original place on the merit list.

I have made a lot of sacrifices this year to get where I am now and if it was to delay any longer would be devastating to me.

Just pure guessing but I reckon there'll be two in December. The last of 1405 and a first 1509.
