I thought he had a great game tonight.
Still, he hasn't always been so great in that role so I wouldn't be as sure as you that he'll prove to be suited there, I still prefer him getting forward more like with the goal but also his runs.
We'll see over time I guess. Full marks tonight anyway.

The other "experiment" went ok too with Milner at LB again. I thought he was excellent there against Leicester, maybe tonight was harder but under the circumstances I thought he did pretty well.

You really have to hand it to Klopp, aside from the Burnley game (and even in that one apart from the final ball) we've been pretty much outstanding.
That's a horrible sequence of fixtures done and dusted with 2 points per game average and some majestic football along the way.

He has a bunch of players who look devastated when they get subbed off, work their tits off for each other on the field and actually look like they're enjoying every minute of playing for him.

    It bodes well.

Yep, tough on Origi but Ings and Ojo deserve time ahead of him at this stage.

I see no reason to start Ings over Origi. Origi is clearly ahead of him in the pecking order and needs game time.

Can't speak highly enough of Matip so far by the way. What a fantastic player he looks.

    Gem of a signing.

I have to admit to being very fond of Matip so far. Origi appears to have regressed significantly. Look forwards to seeing Ings again.

Nice to have a 'head' playing at the back. Skrtel fooled people for years.

I dont think Origi has played enough to be able to do what people hoped he would when he came on. Should have buried the header and would have been a hero but thats not something to get too down about.

Aye, true enough on Henderson. I was pointing out that I'm not necessarily a lover of him in that role so I can only assume you're agreeing with me.
But he did well there tonight to be fair.
When Emre Can is fit I'd start him every single time in that role.

Ach, I'm not too concerned about this Milner offering no width argument.
He's doing a pretty good job there as a temporary solution. It's not ideal, no.
But he can still cross a ball and I'd rather him than Moreno any day.

One thing this team is full of is creativity so if it doesnt come so much from our left back then I'm ok with that.
It's better than the alternative which was stupid mistakes costing us goals.

On Hendo, I don't think he'll ever really be an issue in games like tonight.
I don't think the lack of DM really comes into these games. You're less streteched anyway and you've got so much energy from the front 6 that it takes pressure off the deepest midfielder.
I'd expect him to be great in these games because he's class.

With Milner and our attack against weaker teams, there's only so much you can create with no space.

Mane helps and his absence was a big problem against Burnley, but aside from that, you need other people who can create space.

Even if you're dragging defenders out into a back 6 and you can't get a cross in, you're then at least creating space infield for Coutinho, Lallana or whoever.

We've now got two games against Hull and Swansea. There's Derby in there in the cup as well.

I'm really interested to see how we handle these. Very different animal.

What you want to see from Liverpool is to go into every game expecting to win, like 13/14.
We're there or thereabouts on night like tonight and have been for most of Klopp's tenure but I'm still probably in the position where I just assume things will go tits up and we'll throw points away against **** teams.

If we want to build some real momentum, either the stupid goals going in needs to stop or we need to be putting buckets of goals past these teams - double tapping them basically.

That's about as controlled as we are going to get under Klopp and it wasn't bad, a bit rushed and frenetic but with no Joe Allen to bring on, Lucas past it and Stewart getting game time, as good as could be expected.

Milner looks solid but there are gaps at LB at times, a good manager will exploit it.

He was decent tonight, and made some good tackles but Willian had the beating of him nearly every time he took him on. Just surprised they didn't try exploit that more.

Isn't there a rule if a player refuses a call up for his Country they can block him from playing for his club while those internationals are being played.
If there is it never seemed to affect young Ryan Giggs - in the first 10 years of his international career he made 29 appearances for Wales. His international caps ramped up when Ferguson was no longer reliant upon him as a player.

Me too mate. But I'll put it this way.... If we end up going on a run of poor results against teams who sit back and we cannot break them down and people then turn around and blame a lack of goals on the left back then I'll be pretty disappointed about the critics themselves.
We have a myriad of attacking players.
We should be fine in that regard.

If you put Moreno back in ahead of Milner you'd need to be twice as creative anyway coz he'll give goals away, unlike Milner.

Anyhow....... Screw it, not looking for an argument. I'm away to the leaba, enjoy the celebrations! :)

    +3 on the alternative table.

I only copped tonight 7/15 points was par to get 76 points, that's how hard our start to the season was. We're on target for about 95-100 points so, not getting carried away, we'll stay up anyway!

Henderson looks back to what he should be but still not a DM, defensively solid even with Mig, Coutinho put in a shift and no stupid shots, Mane and Sturridge quiet but still a big threat, only downsides player wise was Lucas and Origi didn't offer much.

Another defensive error, we commit one every 108 minutes under Klopp, Spurs and United is every 200 minutes or more. Keep this settled back 4, introduce Can and Karius gradually to the team and that should improve dramatically.

Next 2 months should be some craic, very winnable games but...

Thought Lucas was excellent when he came on - was at the heart of almost every interception, block, or nipping the ball away in that pressure filled last 10 minutes. Made the one rash challenge outside the box on Hazard, but even that Hazard was clearly playing for. And i'd much rather that challenge there than letting Hazard run into the box and get a shot away. Was very happy with him to be honest.

When was the last time we won at both the Emirates and Stamford Bridge in the same season?

Seems like we managed it in 11/12 under Kenny - we actually beat Chelsea twice at SB that season - league cup as well.

Can't have happened that often though.

Don't see Mignolet losing his place anytime soon. He was brilliant tonight, totally dominated his box.

I would absolutely love us to have a boring 2-0 win over Hull in the next league game. I'd obviously on the day prefer a resounding 6-0 win, but boring 2-0 would be something we haven't done in ages.

We only have 4 days until the next game anyhow, so hopefully we can progress in the cup as well. Can and maybe even Sakho might be fit enough to start if he is trusted enough.

    Fcuking... Yee HAWWWWW!

Come on ta fcuk the rest of the weekend, I'm going mad, who's with me? Let's all get carried away, defintly going to walk the league at a canter the two years this season.

No, we is going to blow Hull City Tigers away, blow them so bad, all the way back to the championship.

Nice to see we have a team of outfield players that can play ball and aren't afraid to show for it.

He still managed to give away his routine free kick in a dangerous position.

I have to say that it did annoy me somewhat.

Was that the one where Hazard kicked the back of his leg and fell over?

Can easily see Karius starting Tuesday. Then if he does well I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the next league game

Lucas was late with his challenge and gave away a free in a dangerous position. Every other way to look at it, is not really relevant.

    I Like Lucas BTW.

I'd like to see us play all 3 of them to be honest. Our senior lads deserve a bit of a break after that performance and run around.

    Would go for something like;

    Karius
    Randall---CB--Lucas---Moreno
    Ejaria--Stewert
    Grujic
    ----Origi--Ings---Ojo

No idea where our CB's fitness levels are...if Klavan and/or Sakho are capable, they should start. Same goes with Can in CM, would love to see him start beside Ejaria. Would have Firmino on the bench just in case, along with the likes of Brannagan, Alexander-Arnold and Toni Gomes. Maybe even Woodburn, but probably good to keep him out of the limelight for this season.

Klopp won't make near that many changes. Karius, Moreno, Lucas, Origi will start. Can if he is fit enough. It'll be a strong team.

F*cking delighted for henderson. The amount of stick that lad gets is unreal. Once again he bossed the midfield. The press and public have slated him over in England for the last few years. I've given up wondering do they even watch the lad play. He was outstanding tonight. I'm made up for 'im !!

Overall a fantastic display, especially first half. Matip again was excellent at the back... Although he did sell himself for the goal a small bit. Some of the football on display in tight situations tonight was outstanding. Tonight was the first time they got me thinking...."we look a bit like klopps dortmund here".

One gripe was the ref. He booked lucas for one tackle(hazard diving- leaving the leg) yet kante pulled back Coutinho first half as he went by him, then had Clyne round the neck second half, on top of numerous fouls here and there yet walked away scott free. Ivanovic too walked a fine line first half yet got nothing. Still... We whopped Chelsea at the bridge. It's all good.

Will still get some with no clue of what he brings to the team. Obviously brought on by mistake tonight cos he's not part of Klopp's plans.

Unless one of them gets a good lash of minutes you can't really make a call on it. Origi will probably be the first of them to next start a game. ..... the other two will get chances too. It's the -ive of no EL.

Lucas is only here as we were deemed short at CB, he's most definitely not part of klopp's plans. If he was he's have been on much earlier. All IMO of course but he was a practically gone a few weeks ago.

Well that was great, two lovely goals and by and large a very good performance. Its been an impressive start to the season giving the fixtures we've had but cant help but feel we will mess up against the usual suspects.

Home from work, first thing I do is look for extended highlights as I've managed to go the entire 11 hour shift at work without hearing a thing...

Can't really add anything to whats already been said previously, but stunning goal from Hendinho. Must have been taking lessons from Coutinho. It was inch perfect.

Onwards and upwards... all aboard the hype train!
