Miocic was absolutely dropped and rocked and that choke was in pretty tight.

I have no doubt in my mind he was motioning towards tapping but then escaped.

Which is not a tap but you can't take that pressure from Overeem for long before he snaps your neck.

    Weird, weird card.

Browne v Werdum was all sorts of comical weird, with terrible reffing. CM Punk was obviously a short affair, though he did ok on bottom, it wasn't a James Toney style embarrassment, he did at least hand fight and post on bottom.

Faber v Riveira was one of the worst fights i've ever seen and Urijah should consider retirement.

Bring back the steroids for the heavyweight division.

Who was that ref? He didn't seem able to control the situation at all

What a strange card. Hope Werdum gets cut as he assaulted an innocent after the bell. Ed is probably gonna sue the balls off him :PAC: That flying kick was tasty though.

Reem running was weird even when he knew he already hurt stipe but must have been in his head to stay away from him. Very disappointing.

Feel bad for JoJo, couldn't recover.

Mma fighter takes 40 year old gym guy down and submits him. I'm ****ing shocked. Fair play to him for making the walk anyway.

I dont get all the 'fair play to him for making the walk'. I mean for a few million I would happily walk into the octogan and let Micky maul me, tap out and walk away a few million richer. Happy Days :D

I was convinced that there was going to be something fishy going on in this fight and Punk would win but apparently not.

Sage's camp (his dad basically) has apparently reached out to the UFC (Dana basically) and said they want the fight against Gall too. Will it happen? I'd say it's nailed on. Sage will have to fight at WW again though.

I think UFC would be smart to not match them up yet to be honest. Give them both two more handy fights each to really push hype for them. Can then do packages etc going back to the calling out of Sage post-fight. It writes itself really.

They surely don't want either hype train to come to a halting stop yet (especially Sage's which is still going)

Punk fought like an idiot. The way he walked towards Gall expecting him to stand with him was complete stupidity, surely he had envisaged an early takedown attempt?

It was genius by Mickey Gall. Who knows if he would have even got another UFC fight and basically got himself one I think. They can make a Looking for a fight movie off it too

Why are you saying money didn't matter to punk?

The thing I don't like about the punk fight is he did not earn his place. For thousands of Mma fighters, UFC is the holy grail. He just jumped the queue and cost a genuine fighter a chance.

It reminded me of when Steve Staunton gave a cap to that absolutely useless American lad, when thousands of semi pro Irish lads dream if that.

Bad taste. Even worse after it was proved how out of his depth he was.

Like others said, "creds to Punk" is absolute rubbish.

Ah look. It's after creating hype for a young fighter now and has more than likely stopped any Pro Wrestling/MMA crossover like that for any time in the near future. Don't be too upset over one person.

As Gall said in his post-fight interview, the stuff people feel it's ok to say online is horrible. Just f'ing lighten up.

Mod: No need to tell someone to f'ing lighten up..think before you post.

I've a pain in my hole with overeem to be honest, all he does is talk!! he'sshh jussht going to be a shtatishtic!! remember that quote and bigfoot took his head off!!

whatever about people saying conor mcgregor ran some of the time (personally I don't agree) but for fook sake, I'd be cutting overeem now from the UFC, he's poison, he actually ran with his back to Miocic at one stage, it was terrible, he's a great career in athletics if he fancies it!!

also I'm sorry but Miocic was very lucky that wasn't someone of a higher caliber because despite being caught napping with a low guard he still stood in range to be caught again with his hands at his chest, very lucky for him. He's a big lummox with no skill who has come along when that division is full of zero talent and Ex steroid users, five years ago he'd be cannon fodder standing there as square as frankenstein..

****e fight, I agree with most, terrible card or actually very strange!

Apparently he has money but is not like filthy stinking rich, the money was definitely one of the motivating factors. I mean he probably earned about 2 years salary in WWE by doing this and he didn't have to travel for 300+ days of the year. I think he tried his best to train and prepare (like anyone would) but I mean I think a lot of people would make that walk for that kind of money. When you see people make that walk for little money to try make a name for themselves/prove themsevles/love of the sport you seriously have to respect that and that takes balls. CM Punk pretty much just took a bit of a hiding for a few million dollars, not exactly something I think that needs to be respected.

It didn't really cost a fighter a spot. Its not like the UFC are likely to see an up and coming prospect, but say "sorry, can't give you a contract, we had CM Punk on a while ago so we've none left"

In fact it created a spot for Mickey Gall, or perhaps created it a little earlier.

There's very little backlash from this, other than from hardcore fans. The general public (who make up the majority of the viewership) if they noticed at all, will most probably think "oh the wrestler fella got beat." "Ah, sure isn't all that aul wrestling fake anyway"

I'm saying, from my perspective, it left a bad taste, and I lost some respect for UFC. You know, my opinion.

definitely think that could happen and I'd be cool with that, dunno if it'll be in the ufc though!

The punch from CM was so bad. I wish Mick kept it standing for a bit but can't blame him taking that opportunity for a takedown. I really really don't like Gall, very unlikable chap.

Ah, so it was only your opinion that a young fighter lost a spot, sure that's all right so, kinda like hypothetical something :D

No that was a fact. Is a fact. Even if it cost 2 guys who should have been on main card ahead of gall and punk it stinks imo

Lads I know these threads can get emotional but best refrain from any carnal activity or suggestions of it on both sides!

Play nice, think before you post. Thanks.

Weird weird card alright as others have said. I've had time to think about it and I still don't know if I even enjoyed it!

After last night I think Faber has one big fight left in him. I see there's a card in Sacramento in December. I'd say he fights there and hopefully signs off with a hometown win.

Punk v Gall went about as well as it could have. It was lob sided sure but at least Punk put up a bit of a fight from the bottom. He looked like a guy with an 0-0 record making his debut but he didn't look worse than that. He wasn't starched in 20 seconds or anything. And now with Gall the UFC have a guy with massive upside, who clearly doesn't mind the spotlight with some charisma calling his shots. I'm keen to see his next fight put it like that.

He didn't cost any fighter a chance! The ufc sign and release fighters at will
