Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May (the former Top Gear presenters) as young men.

    Really? I only recognised Clarkson.

I get bitterly disappointed when I open the thread and it's another one of those deeply unfunny simpsons memes. What's the point of them?

Genuine question. Do people find these funny? If so, where is the humour (I'm really curious on this)?

I suspect the goal is just to come up with the most abstract and bizarre series of images though...

To me they sound a lot like some private joke I'm not party to, and therefore I can't either understand or find funny.

I enjoy them a lot, but there's no point at all in explaining a joke that you don't enjoy.

I wish you would. I have no idea what is going on in them!!

What they're doing is getting two (or more) Simpsons sketches, and mashing them into one comic strip to create a new sketch.

An amusing juxtaposition of two funny moments in the Simpsons. The scenarios are absurd, which I find funny. Not sure I can do much better than that.

It's a cool picture, but "capable of being seen from space" is such a meaningless expression nowadays!

It also cost $9bn. Billion! It'll be the size of their capital when it's finished and will provide electricity for 1.1m people.

((Yes, I just read up on it just there!)) :P :)

So... the apple tax could pay for enough solar panels to power Dublin!

Only if they can somehow move it closer to the equator.

There's actually a lot of solar farms on the way here in Ireland. About 5 have been granted planning permission in Wexford this year alone, no doubt there'll be even more next year!

If we turned the whole of Meath into a giant solar farm to power Dublin I think that would be the best use of the land.

There is no way what is shown in that pic spans ''thousands of acres''.

The wikipedia article on it is quite good: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouarzazate_Solar_Power_Station

Stage one (what's in that picture) covers 1,112 acres, the total plant area covers 6,178 acres.

As with most 'funny' it is very subjective ............... BUT* ............. taking two episodes of the Simpsons and combining them and STILL coming up with something less funny than the last few seasons takes some doing :D:eek::D:eek:

    *and that's a big but

3 smaller than 10 because of the coloured lines (rainbow?)???

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 79,615 Mod ✭✭✭✭New Home

That's the whole point - either the child (I'm hoping it's a child) can't read, or that's his/her declaration of independence ('You're not the boss of me!!!'), or it's Ralph Wiggum's work.

EDIT: To me it was the absurdity of it that made it funny.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

    I thought it was because a 1 and a 0 are less than 3.

    The rainbow was just decoration.

Apple have done away with the headphone socket.

...in an attempt to boost airpod sales.
