    Hi All,

Have a brass letterbox and door handle of a front door. The wrong paint (black) was put on the a few years ago, must have been for metal. But anyways a lot of it has chipped off and i'm looking to strip the rest of the paint off and polish up the brass, at least i think it's brass it's that colour anyways. Anyone any tips on how to strip in? i could just scrub it with a brillo pad or something. Just not sure what the best way would be. All suggestions welcome

Nitromors, but you will need to remove them from the door.

A lot of brass door fittings are clear lacquered, so if you use a paint stripper like Nitromors I'd imagine you'll remove that as well as the paint. I hope you like polishing :)

Remove them from the door, use nitromors as said and then after you polish it up, used a clear laquer to stop it dulling.

Alternatively, caustic soda will remove everything but will leave a dull / matt finish.
