Looks like fun Andrew.... let me try!

I hear the NX might be based on World Peace, rainbows and pop rocks.
Also, Half Life 3 might be a launch game.
They might be making a Virtual Boy 2 to use with it.
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg might be another launch title.
The NX is just a code name, the actual name might be Dreamcast 2!

Nintendo Won’t Repeat Past Mistakes With Nintendo NX: Reggie Fils-Aime

Nintendo was once a dominant force in the console space and up until the Wii it did OK. However, the release of Wii U pushed the company back and we saw major publishers dropping support.

Now, the company is working on a new gaming platform called Nintendo NX. We wonder if Nintendo plans to keep its policies and direction the same or has it learned anything from the Wii U? According to Reggie Fils-Aime, they are fully aware of the mistakes they made and will not repeat them with NX.

He explained that the company will need to a better job communicating the positioning for the product. Nintendo would need to make fans understand its uniqueness.

We have to do a better job helping people to understand its uniqueness and what that means for the game playing experience. And we have to do a better job from a software planning standpoint to have that continuous beat of great new games that are motivating more and more people to pick up the hardware and more and more people to pick up the software.

Those are the critical lessons. And as I verbalize them, they’re really traditional lessons within the industry. You have to make sure people understand the concept, you have to make sure you’ve got a great library of games, and when you do that, you tend to do well.

Nintendo NX is expected in March 2017 and apparently is using a modified version of Nvidia’s “Parker” chip. Hardware power, communication, and support from third party devs is key to success for Nintendo. Uniqueness of the product will not matter if there are no games to play.

Reggie to me is a joke. He's synonymous with BS. Yes, what he says is simple logic but we've heard it all before though numerous times. We'll see.

Hurry, to the Half Life 3 thread to post this!

If there was ever a thread that's constantly bumped with no real news, it's that one. :)

Well Reggie, a good way to help people understand what it is, is to tell them. For a console that's supposed to launch for sale in 7 months, you need to get your arse in gear and start getting the message out as to just why anyone should care about it.

So, salt away €25 a week from this week and, come launch day, you should have the fundage to spring for the NX and a few games at release!
    FZero NX here we come!

Say what you like about Reggie, he's a very charismatic chap. I like him, even though he is spinning a PR line.

With such a long delay in any info I am 100% convinced I will be disappointed with the NX.

I'd argue Nintendo are already missing the boat. It's a mere seven months now until the NX hits shelves, and we're still being drip fed the barest bones of information, most of which is rumour and speculation. It's one of two things, either Nintendo are doing it intentionally, for reasons known only to them, or else they're like headless chickens and this whole thing is another disaster in the making.

For now I think it's the former, because Nintendo are weird like that. 28 weeks to go and nobody knows what the console is, what it's going to be called, it's specifications, it's capabilities, etc etc. I'm a massive Nintendo fan at heart, but man, they really don't make it easy to be at times. It's only when you pick up a controller and things just click, you forgive them every single time!

RUMOR - DETACHABLE CONTROLLERS OF THE NX HAVE MOTION CONTROL, FORCE FEEDBACK

The following comes from LetsPlayVideoGames, who has heard new NX controller details from sources...

    - reports of Eurogamer are accurate
    - detachable NX controllers will support basic motion control, similar to the Wii Remote Plus
    - a form of ''advanced vibration force feedback''
    - designed to phase out the Wii Remote over time, featuring much of their same functionality
    - Wii Remotes can be used in some NX games, though not all games are supported
    - force feedback apparently similar to the Vive controller
    - ''...in that it alters intensity, pulsing patterns and duration of vibration to mimic the sensation of a range of different movement types. It’s not just one vibration for all situations, there’s a notable difference between the hard abrupt feedback of a sword clash or the softer, longer thud of something like hitting a tennis ball.''
    - one game to support all of this is Just Dance 2017, planned for launch

The information is based on two sources, one of which leaked Until Dawn: Rush of Blood a week before its initial announcement. As always, none of this is confirmed by Nintendo or its associates, so take it with a grain of salt.

    Wow
    100%
    A little "definitive" isn't it?

I would say it's no different from mobile phone pushers, who unveil their devices in much the same way.
The two new Nexus devices from Google are out in the next 4 weeks and there's been little or nothing concrete leaked about them.
The important thing is that the developers have it and have games in the pipeline, and everyone bar EA seems on board too.

I'd love to have the unveiling now, like right now, or anything the past couple of months, but we have to hope Nintendo know what they are doing, having taken ownership of the failures of the WiiU, a console which still has better exclusives than the XB1 and PS4 combined.

I think I may have to take the entire "unveiling day" off work. Maybe the day after too, to take in the internet meltdown.

I can see the Reddit topics now
    "Reggie the LIAR!!!!!!"

    "Shigsy the Lair... LIAR TOO!!!

Almost certain then that someone is going to stick one in their jacksy.
So, when buying a preowned NX controller next year, give it a wipe first.

Don't worry just use the new NX sanitising accessory, Nintenwipes. Or for peace of mind the Nintendo Pure - a portable steriliser that kills 99.9% of gaming germs.

Definitely going to get the popcorn out, you can practically taste the salt already. :pac:

Hopefully the reveal will be better than a 15 minute pre-recorded video banging on about Pokemon etc. Wonder will they stick with the NX name and reveal it's meaning or go with something totally different - Nintendo Game & Go or something (yuck).

I don't see how we can be disappointed about a console we know nothing about and Nintendo has kept quiet about for about 2 years is it? Except for vague statements about 'no more software droughts' and the audience they hope to reach.

Emily Rogers: NX prototype had a 6.2" 720p multi-touch screen, 2 USB ports on dock

Quick reminder in terms of resolution: A phone is not a video game console.

    Disclaimer:

"These are all rumors for now. Not facts. Just things that I've been hearing down the grapevine. Could be right, could be wrong. *shrugs*"

Spinoff from the NX motion/force feedback thread:

Her tweets are protected otherwise I would have directly linked them:

    1) This article about NX's detachable controllers supporting force feedback and motion controls has truth.

    2) NX prototype had a 6.2 inch 720p multi-touch touchscreen. Unknown if final product's screen size will be larger / smaller than prototype.

    3) Prototype for dock station has USB ports. I heard 2 usb ports, but I don't know if this number will change in the final product.

Keyword here is "had" so the final product could obviously be different. If she's no longer a reliable source, please close the thread.

    4) MCV's report about GameFreak being involved with NX has some truth to it.

With 2 detachable controllers, I wonder how they're charged

By Unicorns.... according to a confirmed source on Reddit called Fibber McFibbypants-O'LyingSack

    Might be joking...

I'd say it could be by wireless induction, which would be cool because it opens the door to using third party charging mats.
But it could just as easily be like the charging points on the back of the 3DS, where it slots into the charging holder.
The latter case would be handy because the controller would charge when it is slotted into the correct position on the NX, or whatever it is.
Perhaps some sort of magnets, they could turn the device from one mode to another, also it would help with positioning and securing the controllers to the device without the need for breakable clips.

I can only be weeks now before we know... perhaps 14 days or,
    Ahh!
    I'm getting all excited!

There's also a rumour that the controller is horseshoe shaped. If true Nintendo won't have fully abandoned the Wii "U".

Funny, though Reggie would never be given that decision to make. He's only a puppet(really, he's more of a muppet).

Reggie is only seen by us in videos etc, and that accidentally came from E3 anyway, but he holds a pretty influential position in Nintendo, President and COO of Nintendo US is nothing to be sniffed at. His CV is worth a read actually, extremely impressive.

Nintendo of Europe have been very quiet this morning. There hasn't been a single bit of activity, not so much as even a Tweet. I wonder is something afoot? Probably not. Still expecting the NX announcement around the 19th to the 23rd September.

Edit: I think we might get a Direct though very soon.
