EXCEL search help!!

    Hi I have a excel workbook with over 20,000 entries I need to be able to find the top ten Id's occuring in the workbook but the number is in a cell containg text i.e.

    User "mx\B018" ..........

    I need to be able to search the cells and find the top ten occuring id's.

    Any idea's??

    Hmm, if you select all cells you want to browse including their headings and then go to Data/Filter and AutoFilter it will add drop down buttons to let you see the top 10 occuring entries in that column or you can select each particular entry and it will change the spreadsheet to list each occurence of that entry. That should work fine.

    I'd advised that you save it first in case anything goes wrong. Let me know if that works out.
