    Hi,

I own a joint bank account with another person, I wish to remove my name from this bank account as I no longer need it, the other person still needs the bank account for few months and so she will close it at a later stage, how can I proceed to remove my name please? thanks.

    Good Morning alwald,

Thank you for getting in contact with us here on Boards.ie

With a joint account both parties will need to close the account at the same time. Regrettably, it is not possible to remove one party from the account while it remains open. To close this account you will need to send a letter to the account holding branch including the name and signature of both parties, account details and contact number and your intention to close the account.

Once closed you can then open a personal sole account here

I hope this helps and if you need anything else, please don't hesitate to contact us again.

    Elaine
