Yellow stripe on screen - cost of fix?

    Have a 2013 MacBook Air which has developed a yellow stripe down one side of the screen. It's very thin and runs vertically about an inch and a half from the left.

    It doesn't even bother me that much but would get it fixed if it wasn't too costly. Any ideas?

    First you need to establish whether it's the screen or the graphics card. Take a screenshot (CMD-SHIFT-3). If the yellow line is visible in the image it's the graphics card. If not, it's probably the screen.

    Try Compu b they might cover it under consumer law if its not physical damage and was bought in the EU.

    Basically you can make a claim under Irish consumer law for up to 6 years after purchase. However, the claim must be made against the seller who you purchased the Mac from. So you if bought it from PCWorld, then that's you go back to.

    What if you don't have proof of purchase? I know it was bought in Harvey Normans, but the person who bought it for me, never gave me the receipt & doesn't have it anymore.

    Hmmm you'd definitely need proof of purchase.

    you could perhaps go to Harvey norman, if you knew date of purchase and who bought it and they will likely have a copy. The above information with regards to Liability is correct. The reseller is liable for any purchase you make, however with Apple you can take to any service provider with the receipt and they will validate and process the claim for you.
