Conditions are very dangerous at the moment, monsoon rain now as well.

Only heard one clap of thunder hear near Achill but it was enough to make the dog jump up and open the door to come inside and hide, haven't seen anything because my view to the north is blocked by a mountain. Looking south over the bay towards Westport to see if I can see anything.

Pity the lightning detector coverage is so bad in Ireland, especially in the west. The Wesport/Castlebar storm looks quite tame on the live lightning sites, only about 10 strikes registered. The Sligo/Donegal storm seems to be getting picked up much better, probably because it's closer to detectors near Belfast.

    First rain has reached Arklow
Hopefully we'll join the excitement later tonight
That storm building into Donegal now is the same one that affected Sligo except it's got much much bigger
    A supercell likely

It's about to kick off folks and not just for the north west. The East coast could well see some big storms tonight. Keep an eye on the radar.

It's kicking off to our south. The echoes suggest Dublin could well take a hit.
