The sad and disgusting thing is many innocent Muslims are disgusted by these attacks. But they need do more.

I mean it's once every 2 months nearly at this stage

Turkey has had a terrorist attack once every month for the last eleven months.

Awful stuff. Will be very telling who Erdogan attributes blame to. Maybe he'll stay silent.

Kurds are certainly the safest bet...
Still, too early to tell now, looks nasty as all hell in there :(

I doubt very much it was the PKK. It would do massive damage to their cause to attack an airport potentially killing foreigners. Their beef is with Turkey.

That isn't to say Erdogan won't blame them of course.

    copy/paste:

Abdulkadir Selvi (A Turkish news writer) says that: " Undercover policemen notices a man wearing overcoat and starts to follow him. He meets up with 2 other men and they realize they are being followed. They started open fire towards the policemen and one of the terrorist explodes himself at the international arrivals waiting lobby. This is where most of the casualties occurred. The other 2 terrorists go inside the international arrivals part and explodes themselves in there. It is suspected that there were 7 terrorists. - CNNTurk Television

The sad thing is that it's only matter time before Ireland gets attacked.

Very sad times we live in.

I think since WW2 only 3 days in that whole period has there been no conflict around the world.

Sadly it's always innocent people who majority of loss of life.

Really? I don't see it. Say what you want about Islamic extremists, but they usually declare their targets long before they actually strike. It's long known that they had targeted France and Belgium before they actually struck. Has Ireland ever offended them to the extent that they'd actually carry out attacks here? I don't think so. I know they included the Irish flag in that 'coalition of devils' video they released last year, but they also included the likes of Estonia, Slovakia and Finland, and I highly doubt they're going to be struck either. We're wide open to terrorist attacks if anybody genuinely did want to target us, so I reckon if they did want to they'd have done it a long time ago.

Ireland has been named as a target of theirs, unfortunately.

I so hope you're right and maybe you are spot on, but it's been worst kept secret in that there could be up to 300 ISIS fighters in Ireland that lived or moved on past 5-6 years

Ireland might and most likely not their main target, but rather worrying

I'm attending a rather big festival in London soon. Given that ISIS have said there could be attacks during Ramadan, which is still going on, it's hard not to have that at the back of your mind. I'm still going to go and have an incredible time, but still.

Chances are the airport will never be better protected than in the immediate aftermath of an attack

Pure a case of closing door after horse has bolted....but follow your own intuition tbh

Any airport is a target. They rarely strike twice at the same target. I would not change plans.

One suicide bomber was shot by a police officer before he could get near enough civilians, his vest detonated with no one near enough to get injured. At least that is some good news.

There's a video of that incident on reddit. Cop done well considering terrorist was armed with a gun and a vest.

Apparently there are four more terrorists that are still at large & one was caught. This is not confirmed though.

Also it is two years to the day that Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi declared an Islamic caliphate. It's likely that they are the perpetrators, although no one has admitted to it yet.

That's crazy. Fair play to them. Can you imagine if they didn't act fast? 4 heavily armed terrorists with bombs could have resulted in a lot more dead.

I was through Brussels airport a couple of weeks after that attack, and on Egyptair flights to and from Cairo in the last month, after the crash. Brussels was locked down and as safe as an airport can be. It's very unlikely they'd target the same place twice in quick succession, they've already terrorised that population, they want to spread the terror further so they pick a different target. Ataturk is probably safer than any other airport for the near future.

Only you can decide if you don't want to take the risk, but I wouldn't think twice.

I was watching the Papers on BBC News tonight. The Daily Mirror is one paper that will have this story on it's front page tomorrow.

I'm not going to look at videos of it on Twitter. Too disturbing for me but I send my condolences to the innocent people's families.
