Hi My husband has received a gift of a round of golf for 2 in the K Club so we are looking at staying and playing somewhere not to far away.
I have seen offers in accommodation in the Moyvalley hotel.
Is this a good quality course and what is the hotel like in general.
Also what is the closest town to the Moyvalley hotel.
Any other ideas of a place to stay and another course to play where we could be drive to the K club.
Also in the K club is the Palmer course the Irish open course
    Thanks in advance

I take it his vouchers are for the Smurfit Course. Moyvalley course is OK. Heathland style - quite open. The hotel is on the course which is set in a housing development and a bit isolated. Nearest towns probably Enfield and Kinnegad.

It wouldn't be my choice to stay for access to the K Club. If you want to splurge then stay at the K Club itself and play the Palmer. Otherwise Palmerstown Stud is nearby and a good course. No hotel on site but plenty of choice in the Naas area and not far from Dublin either.

Yes the Palmer course is the Irish Open course.

As another place to stay and play, you could look at Carton House or Castleknock. Loads of other courses and hotels nearby, but they are the only options for staying on-site (that I can think of anyway!), unless you want to go out a bit further maybe Knightsbrook, The Heritage, Tulfarris.

If it were me, I would look at Carton for all round quality. Hotel might be expensive enough there though.

Other golf options without moving to far are

    Luttrelstown
    PGA Palmerstown House
    Hermitage
    Naas
    Lucan
    Castleknock

Hotel options are endless. Look at booking.com would be my recommendation and bring the map up.

Oh yea, whatever about staying in Citywest, don't bother with the golf there

Sorry, In the absence of a question mark I didn't spot that the OP was asking if the Palmer is the Ryder Cup course so I now assume this is what the voucher is for. In that case I wouldn't recommend staying at the K Club to play the Smurfit. One of the other options you suggest would make more sense but I would recommend Luttlerstown, Carton or Palmerstown well ahead of the others. Totally agree about CityWest.

    I would to.

Thank you for the replies and ideas. As we have just had our holiday the accommodation in the K Club is a bit too pricey so I will look into those others. Yes the voucher is for the Palmer course and we were thinking we would have another round somewhere else not to far away so we don't necessary need to be staying on the course just thought it might be an option.
    I will have a look on booking.com

Moyvalley is a fantastic hotel. It is missing a pool, but it has very good food, superb staff, quality modem bedrooms, a decent bar, and fine outdoor spaces.

It is in the middle of nowhere - it's 5 miles from Enfield, which is itself only the tiniest of an oasis in the south Meath desert of not much to do.

So if you're looking for a hotel as a base rather than the point of the trip, it's not so good.

If you're looking for a hotel with a spa, the Johnstown Hotel is just up the road from Moyvalley.

By the way, Rathcore is only a 10 drive from Moyvalley if you're looking another course.

We will be travelling from Kerry so we are looking at a 2 night stay .
So then we were also considering a second round of golf

Well coming from Kerry, I would be considering something on or near the N7. If you could get a deal in the Heritage is't a fab hotel and a very good course. Not to far from there to the K-Club maybe 30 mins tops.

I'd stay in Tullamore and play either Esker Hills or Tullamore.

Not a bad suggestion although reports on course condition and maintenance are a bit iffy. Very nice course if in good nick and the hotel is fine.

Coming from Kerry the N7 axis makes a lot more sense than M4.
