Does anyone know when EI's latest A330-300 will be delivered

Currently 2nd half of August to start ops in September. 2nd pair of 330's should start to be shown on Airbuses production sheets soon enough they're due May next year.

EI-CJX returned to JFK about a hour ago after departure. Possible engine issues.

    EI102 / EIN1RY

Indeed, it departed again after a fix at least

That's good, seen it fly over my head returning. Interesting livery, first time seeing the updated one in person.

Both incidents have been reported on the AvHerald:

    EI-CJX EI 102 Incident

    N234AX EI 135 Incident

EI-LBT, inbound to JFK from SNN as EI 111, is operating with around a 3/4 hour delay as EI 102. It looks like EI-CJX is planned to operate the EI 110 to SNN, which was originally due to be EI-LBT. EI 110 has a STD of 23:30 Irish Time, and while nothing has shown on FR24, Aer Lingus' and other flight tracking don't show it as cancelled yet. So we'll see. I believe the 757s' maintenance base is down in SNN so that's handy enough if it needs more of a fix when it gets back home.

Further North American expansion expected to be announced soon, within weeks so we'll probably get confirmation on the 2 addition A330s for next year at the same time.

We had heard previously it would be July so message seems to be consistent. Is it two more routes?

Been there for a while now. Also in print in June issue of Airliner World.
Ive used that nugget of info to trump two discussions over the last month or so about "IAG already gave the A350s awsy to Iberia"
Of course 24 months is a long time. Could well see IAG reallocate those airframes! Who knows?
Would be nice to get a new type at DUB.

EI need them, and rumour has it that Airbus will be increasing production rates for A330 and A350 next year. Guess we will have to wait and see what the orders are like at Farnborough

No argument there. EI have had the A330 since 1994 (?)
They could do with a capacity increase/product upgrade in the A350. And while they dont need the full range capability the fuel burn reduction will be welcome on their longer sectors.
    Time will tell.

I was lucky enough to fly Aer Lingus transatlantic a few weeks ago and we had arranged to get the kids up to the cockpit after we had landed.

I hadn't been in a cockpit since the glory days of the Aer Lingue 747. I could not believe how small the cockpit is now. And how few buttons there are. 2 crew up front for the flight. We were on a flight that was on the outer limit for the 2 crew.

The captain was good enough to give us 5 minutes of his time and we were very appreciative for this.

Delighted to hear they're still facilitating that.

Will never forget my first transatlantic spin as an 11 year old on an EI A330 to New York. Mid flight a cabin crew member came down and invited myself and my brother into the cockpit. Captain (German fella iirc) hopped up and let me sit into his seat - I remember being terrified of touching anything! Spent a good 5/10 mins talking to me about flying (was set on becoming a pilot then). Incredible experience for a child & I'm glad they're still doing it.

Flight Deck visits are still extremely popular among children and adults alike! If often happens during extended ground delays etc. pilots will invite visitors to the flight deck, and the adults are often more excited than the kids! People love getting cockpit selfies for instagram these days!
What i think is a lovely idea is the flight log that we are often asked to pass to the captain to fill out and sign, Ive seen these dating as far back as the 60's and have some incredible flight information and journeys documented in them! Its a lovely idea for a child to keep one of these and in many cases they continue to update right through adulthood too!

EI-CJX only making it to SNN now, all SNN-JFK-SNN flights cancelled since then. DUB flights were operated by the SNN aircraft.

Does anyone know what ever happened with EI-FNJ, wasn't this aircraft initially rejected by EI due to cabin configuration ?? Has this aircraft had is cabin refitted? or is it in ex-vueling cabin interior?
Are Vueling cabins not the same as Iberia? and thus the same as EI-EDS/P ?

They are small however I prefer the 737 to the A320 as I prefer the yoke and not the side stick!

Pilots say the Airbus is more ergonomically pilot friendly but some say so is the Boeing!!

Training myself at present and the closest ove gotten is a 737 sim so cant comment in the Airbus or a real 737.

Airbuses have trays for pilots.....If your career is to be spent eating your lunch dinner in a flight deck for 30 years then you'd come to appreciate a tray to place your meal on lol !!

It was delivered a week or so go, initially appeared to be based at SNN operating the LHR route but now seems to have moved to Dublin and has been on LHR most frequently but also a few European routes.

No idea about the cabin, I'd expect the seats to be the same as Iberia but it shouldn't have the legroom issues the Iberia aircraft had as Vueling already use a higher density configuration so EI wouldn't have to squeeze more in.

I'd tend to agree - nice colour but not conducive to a pleasant nap

Yes same but the seats seem newer on EI-FNJ also the carpet is new.
