What are the standard methods of house construction these days? Do the Department of the Environment have any guidelines on this? What type of block, insulation, cavity, brick work, render etc

There's no real standard at the moment, just various methods.
Of the many estates I'm looking after, i've seen block, timber frame, steel (with bloc infill panels).
