I never said he was a HUGE liability. Don't misquote me, go back and read my post. I believe he is a liability as I said. That has been proven in the past. Whether that is HUGE or otherwise is irrelevant.

It's not his ability to go forward that I have an issue with but his positional sense is often poor and if he gets isolated one on one he is often done for pace. He is not a natural defender.

I hope he has the game of his life and I am proved wrong but I have watched enough of him going back to when I used to go see him at Dollymount when he was played in his natural position and he excelled up to present day where he is no more than a very average defender at best... to suggest otherwise shows a lack of understanding of the game to be honest.

Sorry, the first poster did, I just assumed I was conversing with same poster! Thats who I was correcting. Then you replied so I didnt look back to previous page to see if it was the same poster!! Pretty standard!

Never get tired of seeing that Hendrick run against Georgia. Fantastic feet

I think he's ready for the Prem if a team takes the punt

He is well ready! No punt about it! He would get into 40-50% of the first 11s at present.
I am sure he will want to step up also

Feels strangely like the game against Cameroon, 2002.

It's not pretty standard... if it was standard it would be like an asylum with people not knowing who they were talking to or quoting or what the **** was going on... but it's like an asylum anyway so it probably doesn't matter...

Anyway COYBIG ! Ward to score the winner... 😛

Nah, game against Cameroon was all "Roy Keane this, Roy Keane that". It was also at 7/8am on a Saturday morning!! I remember working as a very young lad in a car wash and running in and out checking the score, doing a half arsed job on any car that came in, and not feeling any guilt because they are sitting in a carwash on a Saturday morning while the world cup is going on!!

Big delays getting to the stadium apparently. Not many in the Irish end yet.

Looks like we are packing the midfield
Need a good game out of Whelan
Needs to break up that play

Need a big game out the players who can pass the ball. When we get it, we must pose a threat.

I replied to your reply to my reply to another poster. I just wasnt arsed skipping back page so as that I didnt defame you by assuming you were the original poster and misquoting you with the word huge!!!! Otherwise your opinion was akin to the other poster anyway.
We are avatars on an internet discussion site! I havent a clue who I am talking to!! I could be Stephen Ward for all you know! ;)

Conversly George Hook and Dunphy look exactly how you would imagine they would by merely listening to them! Pat Kenny to!

I said it ,yes and I stand by it.
Ward is a poor defender ,poor on the ball and panics a bit under pressure.

One positive is that he is coming in on the back of consistent football with Burnley so he wont be as rusty as in the last Euros.

With himself and Clark on the left expect Belgium to direct most of their attacks down that wing .

I have to be honest I fear a bit for us today that we may have a "Euro 2012" experience. Hope i'm wrong. Great to see Hoolahan, Brady and Hendrick get another chance to shine on the big stage. Fingers crossed they make the difference.

Another Glenn Whelan masterclass is in order if we're to keep De Bruyne quiet.

2-1 Belgium, I would say. Defensive mistakes to rue.

3-0 Belgium i hate to say it but they are a mile ahead of us in terms of ability and we haven't the ability to hold the ball.

Come on Ireland! A pit of positivity in here would be nice to see and could go a long way. I think Ireland can do tis they beat Germany the World Champions and the them seems good so if we play like we did against Germany then then they can win just need to get two goals in the Belgium net early on :)

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.
