Skoda Octavia colour choices and option advice

    Hi all,

We are thinking of getting a new Octavia and are wondering about the colours.

The 'flat' colours are limited enough, 2 whites, a red and a blue called 'Pacific Blue', which seems to be the one we are leaning towards.

However I haven't seen it in the flesh and any pictures I can see online seem a bit dodgey.

Anyone got any advice? Is it necessary to upgrade to metallic? White is not an option as I think they look terrible.

Also thinking of adding the sport seats, flat bottomed steering wheel, chrome trim and led rear lights, as well as the interior lighting pack.

    Any other must haves?

It will be the 90bhp 1.6 TDI in ambition trim.

I'd get the red, non metallic blues are nearly always rotten. Especially on Skodas.

Pretty sure I rented a Fabia in that shade a few months ago.

The only other flat colour considering is red. It's Ferrari/Fire engine red and looks good.

I bought a 1.6 elegance recently in quartz grey with:
    -flat sports wheel (feels lovely)
-tinted rear glass (must have with kids)
-electric folding mirrors with puddle lights
    -chrome pack
    - LED rear lights

I'll prob ad a lip spoiler to the back too.

If I were you, I'd try and stretch to the 110bhp with upgraded 17" wheels. It's a cheap upgrade and they do a much better job of filling the arches. Other option is to try and stretch to the Style spec. Rear parking sensors are a must as well with such a long car and a high boot.

Stretch to the 110bhp if possible.

Pacific Blue is horrendous, avoid it. White or Red if you're going down the solid colour route.

If you want to add Sport Seats, buy a Sport line - it's an additional 1200 quid over the Ambition but comes with the sport interior, exterior styling pack, 17" alloys and one or two other bits over and above the standard car.

Thanks, yours looks very well there. I was thinking about the rear tint also as we have a 7 month old.

I have an appointment with a second dealer tomorrow, will see if I can play them off against the crowd we already got quoted from and if I can angle something off the metallic.

I would prefer the 110 too but it may stretch the budget too much, plus I won't be driving it and I have 163bhp to play with anyway :)

Thanks, however they seem to have a 'dynamic package' which gives me the seats, wheel and rear armrest for under 600 quid on the ambition?

Depends how car proud you are but red chips on the bonnet a lot. I find the RS a little lacking at times so would definitely avoid the 90 brake one. Rear tints are a cheap extra and worth it, metallic grey suits them. Avoid pacific blue at all costs, it's horrific.

Definitely get sensors or the reversing camera as they're deceptive when parking.

Add smart link for 100 or so, basically it's cheap nav from your phone. Some people find it buggy but on a few recent phones it's been faultless for me once you plug it in after the head unit has started. It's the bargain of the options list, hill hold is another one.

Cheers Mal, I think I might go for metallic altogether, blue or grey should look well with the chrome window surrounds.

Baby means a lot less time on boards :)

Actually, I saw this recently and thought it looked well with the black kit

The lesser Octavia models in white just don't look right. Only the vRS really looks white especially with the black mirrors, grill and gunmetal grey alloy wheels.

I think the non vRS Octavia looks well in metallic grey especially with decent size alloy wheels under the arches.

I thought it was the grey that the superb has which looks.. Superb, but its a different almost greeny grey on the octavia (metal grey) and I wasnt gone on it. I prob would have went for the grey if it was the same as the superb. I don't see a quartz grey option now.

Order is gone in. 110bhp ambition.

    Added:
    Race blue metallic
Dynamic pack (sports seats, wheel, some metal trim on the pedals and split folding rear seats)
    Rear led lights
    Chrome window trim
    Rear tint
    Interior footwell lighting pack
Smart link (free on current factory orders)

Was tempted to bump up to the 17" alloys but I resisted.

Thanks for the advice all :)

Sounds like a well specced car. I'd beg you to order 17's though. The 16's look lost under it. A colleague has an Ambition with the same wheels as mine in 16's and the difference is noticeable. Ride quality etc is fine too. For the sake of €250, I'd reconsider not ordering them.

+1 on this. The Octavia's arches are too big for 16" rims.

I got mine in Feb and went for metallic silver style, really like it, gun metal grey was a close 2nd
    Options I got were
    Hill hold (love it)
    Smart link (works well)
    Footwell lights (look cool)
Rear tinted windows (really suit the silver)
Style also came with rear leds, reversing camera and sensors and chrome trim

Nice extras on it, the 110 will be a lot better than the 90. Forgot to mention the foot well lights - really handy when you drop something in the car at night. Also another +1 for some 17s on it. While there's time to get them they'd make a world of difference to the car.

Alright lads ye talked me in to it. 17" denoms added :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,546 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

I don't think you'll regret getting the bigger wheels as the cost of changing them and tyres afterwards would be a non runner.
Nicely chosen extras by the way, they'll make a really nice car out of it.

Bought a 1.2TSi Style (new name for Elegance level) at start of year.

Metallic Silver with Teron 17" and the Sunset tint. The tint looks really well with the silver and I thought the Denom rims looked a bit boy racer. No extra cost to change to the Teron's.

In terms of extras I went with front parking sensors, Front Assist (auto braking) and front heated seats. With the Style package, things like rear parking sensors, rear camera, folding mirrors with puddle lights, LED brake lights, etc came as standard. So didn't need to add to much to the options list.

So far very pleased with it. Still has the new car smell in it! :)
