"well if the other ship has something to do with our mission then they either want our current package alive (otherwise they would have attacked during the journey) or they want what we've come to collect (in which case we must assume they will attack while we're docked)"

"of course, there's always the possibility that what we've come to collect is on board the stealth ship...so many possibilities..."

"Anyway it turns out we have to wait for the other side to show their hand. I can follow the wraith raiders and probably prevent them re-boarding the shuttle if necessary, but somebody should make contact and secure our cargo as quickly as possible...once it's in our control we can decide our next move".

"How long until the return shuttle leaves?"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 914 ✭✭✭Specky

"well so much for stormer instincts....the enemy turns out to be our baby sitter...makes my job a little easier though don't you think" Zmek adopts an exagerated stance staring at the wraith raiders for a moment then rolls his eyes at Tank and turns his back to watch the other people milling around.

"why does it not surprise me that the cargo is not ready?...and why the doctor's unease?...my curiosity is beginning to grow regarding the nature of our intended cargo."

"but let's get off this deck full of people they're making me itch just looking at them..."

"Do you think we should ask our hosts about that stealth ship Tal'Einea spotted or would we be better off keeping that to ourselves?
We might be able to get info on it from those senior staff we're going to meet on the command deck."

"Hold your tongue human! We keep what we know to ourselves"

"That's for the squad-leader to decide. He's in change and has to face the consequences of his orders. But that means his orders COUNT"

"So tell me Byuu, What do yo know of our package? and anyone we might be dealing with? We were told you have been here many times before. We were given very little information and i would like to know exactly what were protecting"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 914 ✭✭✭Specky

Zmek adopts a familiar pose, leaning against the wall, arms folded, impatiently tapping a gloved finger on his sleeve.

"More outsiders...I hope this isn't going to effect what we get paid for this job...if we ever complete it what with humans running around pointing guns at everyone, a jumpy stormer and that damned ebon mooning around looking at the stars..."

"Now we're stuck out here on this...nowhere hunk of metal, locked in a room, effectively under guard, waiting for a bunch of scientists to give up the contents of their favourite test tubes...isn't it all just wonderful..."

He blows out a sigh through the twisted lips of a scowl and continues to stare at the room from behind opaque mirror shades....

Byuu is actually away for a week so i'll be taking over his character, byuu has full access to your Coms system now so just be careful what you say :)

Byuu turns to face squall. "Im afraid i no nothing detailed about what we are actually transporting to the surface of Mort. i was only told what were here to transport some sort of equipment and personal to an air force base i dont know what they want us to transport but i has me thinking it has to be REAL important to someone if they want 10 operatives to guard it."

"i can check with my companions and see if they know much about the base were going to as they have been around alot longer than i have"

*you notice that the other 2 wraith raiders have an SCL8 badges (they've been in SLA for a while) *

Zmek shifts impatiently from one foot to the other, studying the map, looking around the command deck and glancing at the other squad members. He waits until the commander's back is turned...

"I'm putting two and two together here and getting some pretty big numbers. Somebody else is here to try to collect this cargo from under our noses and if they do we're not going to get paid."

He stabs the ship's map with a gloved finger "Common sense would suggest that our cargo is in the research labs. That stealth ship is a lot closer to it than we are and whoever's on board it is obviously disrupting the station's power to reduce the defence capability of station security. They're making their move, now we need to make ours. We need to secure the area where the cargo is being prepared then engage the hostile agent and dissable their vessel so we can get the cargo away."

He turns away towards the elevator but checks himself after a few short steps, stopping and pausing for a second before turning to look at Squall..."but of course" there's a slight smirk in his tone "if you'd like to command otherwise squad leader....."

*waits for the commander and the two raiders to leave then turns off his com-system and speaks to the others*

"hmm... did you realize how far off the normal docking ring the emergency docking ring is? Kinda strange design if you ask me...
We still don't know who or what this stealth-ship was. Should we trust the commander and tell him what we know?"

    *after a short pause*

"on another note, I saw one of the raiders whisper something to the other and he gave him something white package-like... didn't want them to know I saw it so I waited... what do you think? Smells fishy to me..."

*checks his rifle and chambers the first round of the magazine*

"I'm no CQB-expert, but I know we can't possibly take on a whole station..."

    *looks at squall*

"Sir, I'm taking the liberty to suggest we secure, as the brainwaster said, the probable location of our mission-item, keep an eye on the scientist and also make sure we have an alternative escape-plan at hand. My tactical suggestion would be to avoid getting in CQ-fights and circumvent any security. We lack the manpower AND the ammo for a long fight. My strategical suggestion would be to pull together our mobile objectives towards the static ones while trying to keep a clear route to our escape-vessel(s). Capturing a civil ship like the one that got us here might not be a good idea. The emergency-dock might have a ship or we can try to capture the stealth-ship. It'd be a risk, but it didn't look too big. Splitting the team might get the job done quicker, but also reduces our strength. On the other hand, if combat is to take place in this tight space, a big team will most likely hinder its own actions."

    *looks around*

"That's my view on the situation, Sir. But whatever we do, we should do it quick"

*nods at squall and turns on his COM-system again*

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 914 ✭✭✭Specky

Zmek puts his hands on his hips and taps one foot, continuing to display his impatience.

"And who will pilot the stealth ship if we capture it might I ask? There are no pilots amongst us as far as I am aware..." he pauses and looks around the squad for a contradiction "we don't even know anything about the cargo yet the stealth ship may not even be suitable. But one thing is for sure, if we're going to make the trip back to Mort on some commercial transport we cannot allow the stealth ship to follow, we will be sitting ducks."

He paces slowly back towards the others "we must dissable the ship or remove it's crew, either of which objectives may be achievable but not standing here". Zmek removes his shades and looks squarely at Squall "do not underestimate our capabilities. You have two brain wasters and a stormer....and some humans with guns...." he eyes the wraith raider through narrow suspiscious eyes whilst still talking to Squall "...but remember all that stuff about trust and loyalty, we know the reason why most of us are here...time will tell why others have joined...but for now we must act!"

In a more consiritorial tone he continues "Don't involve the station commander, he's more worries about his pension than anything else, and look at the security here...it's pityful. We need to take control of our own interests, that's just common sense. He said we could go anywhere we want so let's go where we should be, protecting our interests"

With another pointed glance around the squad members Zmek puts on his shades again and waits for a sign from the squad commander.

*Tank look around for a moment and turns off his COMS*

"Sir i agree with Jason. a CQB would be a very bad idea on a station that is decaying as fast as this is one stray bullet and you'll be sucking you lungs back in through your a*sh*le..... sir"

"on the other hand the captian already proabaly knows about the stelath ship this is an R&D station after all they test weird and wonderful things here all the time why not a stealth ship"

*tank pauses a moment and chambers the first round on his FEN*

"i do agree with Zmek and Jason what ever were going to do we'd better do it fast splitting up might be a good idea there are 8 of us now perhaps 3 to 4 of us to check out and guard the equipment and another 2 or 3 to checking out the docking ring or the lower levels of the ship see whats going on."

*Tank Turns back on his COMS on again"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 51 ✭✭Gaunt

    Turns off his com.

"It seems too unlikely that security problems would occur at this point for the stealth ship to be part of the stations research. That the security isn't responding suggests our opposition is being aggressive. Given our locations it is unlikely that we would reach the package before them in any case. If we want the package then we will have to fight for it.
"I suggest we try and position ourselves between them and their ship. You never know, we might even be able to get the drop on them if we move quickly enough. An ambush would reduce the risk structural damage to the station as well. We will probably out number them too if they left people to gaurd their ship. We can deal with them piecemeal."

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 43,044 ✭✭✭✭Nevyn

Tai'Einea grins and strecthes like a cat.
" oh good is it play time yet ? "

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭Squall

*Turns off his coms and talks quietly to the squad*

"Alright well split into two teams"

"Tal'Eania, Spirit,Steiner and Tank, you 4 move towards the stealth ship. We wont beat them to the package and they will most likely be heading that way. When you reach the ship get yourselves into ambush positions"

"Myself, Zmek, Gaunt and Byuu will head towards the labs. If we do make contact there the other team is to move up and provide support. If the package is already gone we'll converge towards the stealth ship. Hopefully we can catch them unawares and flank them"

"Zmek is right, no need to inform the commander of any of this. Our friends might not know we know about them yet, no need to tip them off"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 51 ✭✭Gaunt

"It's unlikely that the stealth ship will be unguarded. If we are going to split up to get the package and the ship at the same time we will have to be careful to co-ordinate both attacks or we'll lose the element of surprise for one."

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 914 ✭✭✭Specky

"the fact that our cargo is unstable in the presence of ebb seems to be no secret, so I would guess there may not be ebons or wasters amongst our enemies...this gives us some small advantage at least with a brain waster in each of our teams."

Zmek chuckles slightly "the element of surprise....they will run in circles like frightened rats while I toy with their minds then I will visit swift and silent death upon them one by one from the shadows..." he pauses and falls silent for a few moments as they continue to make their way towards the science deck "...if only I knew how the cargo will react to ebb..."

"I do not want to learn too late that this cargo of ours will destroy the entire station if I should channel too close to it....DAMN !!"

"You should have brought the stormer for this task Shaktar, my ebb powers are useless until we know more of this cargo...Tali and I could have easily contained the stealth ship between us...DAMN !!"

Zmek's face darkens with rage, drawing his FEN and chambering a round he mutters under his breath as he walks "no matter....I will split their carcases with my bare hands instead if I have to..."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭Squall

"Well Waster would you have me leave the human and Ebon without a bit of muscle?"

"I can handle any CQB we come up against, of that I have no fear"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 914 ✭✭✭Specky

Zmek walks on in silence, checking behind at each turn for any sign of pursuit. Within him the feelings of isolatiion built since he was a child are reinforced a little more, the rift between those who channel and those who do not wrenched a little wider.

No-one understood. Not the stupid humans in the academy who had forced him into the councelling sessions...he'd soon fooled them...and not this shaktar either.

His current situation, stumbling towards uncertainty in a crumbling space station miles above the surface of Mort seemed somehow fitting, adding to the turmoil of feeling that surged within him, feelings that he now struggled to suppress.

The mission. Now is mission time. Concentrate.

    "As you wish squad leader..."

Spirit says huskily, "I don't like this, don't like this at all..."

Tali'einea Laughs the sound bright and brittle, " Trust a ebon to get squeamish when there is blood to be split, Tell you what dear you can go ask the Bold people in the ship to stop and if they turn you into a corpse I will cause their lil craniums to explode. That way you will have at least tried to do thing the Ebon way. "

She taps her comms to Quall,

" Going to switch this group to a sub group comms that way there will be less confusing chatter, but I will keep you informed of our progress and status.
    Tali’einea out.

Ok my pretties, the Crew of the ship are expenble and so is the ship.
We need to be swift and accurate.
We have no idea what that lil ship is packing and they may decide to blast their way out of the docking then loose their ship.

They will be on their guard and know that they are the realistically the only way off this station for those obtaining the package.

If we can obtain the pilot that will be a bonus sure I am even be able to make it talk a lil. "

Tali pauses savouring the pain she may get to inflict later as her hair filled with flux dances about her head.

" I am going to get data about the area into which we are headed and then well will see what the best approach will be. "

Tali then comms the addition to the team, " hey they’re Byuu " she sooths "
Any chance you could give a girl a heads up into the confines of the emenercy docking area and what the security arrangements are down here, wouldn’t want to be taking out people who just wouldn’t get out of the
    Way. "

"copy that sir moving into position"

*With a quick cautious glance around to make sure the corridor is clear tank checks and ready's all his weapons, and falls in beside Spirit Steiner and Tal'Eania*

*Tank shrugs off the anticipation of the possibility of there first live engagment and focuses on the task at hand.*

"any suggestions as to what we do when we reach the ship i mean its a long way down to the emergency docking ring they could be waiting for someone to clome along before they make a move"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 914 ✭✭✭Specky

"Shaktar, I advise that the other team should not engage the enemy at the stealth ship. They should not make their presence known yet, instead they might attempt to set up a cordon monitoring the movements of those coming and going from the ship and detaining where necessary."

"We do not wish to forwarn the enemy of our intentions but should try to disrupt their lines of communication."

"Perhaps Tal'Eania...or even the ebon could disable communicators or confuse the enemy without them raising the alarm."

"The only acceptable outcome of a fire fight would be the death of all enemy and without knowing their strength that could be a tall order given that our squad lacks combat experience and is divided in two."

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 43,044 ✭✭✭✭Nevyn

Tai'einea thinks that can be arragned nothing like making someones head explode to cut down on them comunicting,

Im taking over byuu's charachter while he's away so:

*byuu agknowledges Squall's orders and falls in at his side*

"The Station was the first of its kind built over 100 years ago there's much better and more advanced stations orbiting Morts surface but there the ones you've never herd about there kept out of the public eye"

    *Byuu pauses*

"the emegerency Docking ring is located at the bottom of the station as the network + server room are located just one level above the docking ring so in the case of a catastrophic system failure at least the server harddrives and personall can be quickly evac'ed"

"or thats the idea anyway..... there isnt much in the way of security down there its called emegerency docking ring for a reason in that it can be only opened by a catastrophic system failure.... there's no way in or out from there unless......."

With byuu's very words just out of his mouth the power on the station fails you hear a Computers voice activate (in typical star trek fasion) [EMEGERENCY SYSTEM LIGHTING ACTIVATED]

and an eerie red glow illumates the corridor

after a few seconds the Grav drive fails and you find yourself floating up into the air

byuu says "well i guess this would constitue a catastrophic system failure the doors are most probably opening as we speak"

the computers voice can be herd again [RESTORING GRAV DRIVE NOW] ....... and you are all thrown back down onto the floor

the lights are still out though.

    the captian coms your team:
[Captian]: Just got word the package will be ready in 15 mins
    (two game turns)
i have no idea what the hell is going on but ive sent a security detail and a tech down to the server room to find out what the hell is going on........

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 148 ✭✭tank

"erm can we go home now?"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 914 ✭✭✭Specky

As gravity is restored, pulling the deck up to meet the squad members Zmek lands on his feet, crouched in a stance of readiness, reflexes channeling tiny amounts of flux to prevent him falling uncontrollably.

"So I guess if no-one can get in to the emergency docking ring unless a catastrophy occurs then it follows that no-one can get out either...so our adversarys are only now leaving the ring....this evens up the race for the package."

"Some plan is required now. Are there emergency escape vehicles in the docking ring that we might use to leave the station if we need to? If we choose that option then we must dissable the stealth ship before we leave. There is some devious scheme behind what's happening here and since we don't know who's behind it I say we trust no-one and act for our own interests. Secure the package, disable the stealth ship, escape the station and leave whoever's left to their own fate."

"Attractive thought the option might sound I think the risks involved in hijacking the stealth ship and coercing the pilot to take us back to Mort are too many. There are senior SLA personnel involved in this with more influence than any of us. We need to slip away with the cargo and leave confusion in our wake."

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 43,044 ✭✭✭✭Nevyn

"hmm slip away yes but we cant leave the stealth ship behind us to follow and with the station in crises who knows when the next transport will be,
and this place is too big and too much of an unknow to defend or hide out condiering we do know know the number of those here or those that are working with them.

Time for you Darling leader to do a lil thinking "

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 914 ✭✭✭Specky

"Yes Tali, that is exactly my point. The stealth ship must be dissabled...even minor damage to the airlock or docking mechanism could achieve this...a small explosion in the right place could do the trick and even be put down to an accident with so much confusion going on..."

"...I have both the materials and the method to achieve this but I am here chasing the package..."

"a lot seems to depend on whether there will be alternative transport available for us to leave other than the stealth ship...you're heading for the docking ring, we must rely on your team to lay an escape path for us when we bring the package...if need be I'll blow the whole docking ring off the side of the space station but we need a ship and a pilot"

"Looks like we have more time than expected. Were going to need a ship and that Stealth is the best option though it might not be the easiest to obtain."

"OK. Taleania, Zmek and Spirit, since we dont know how responsive the package is to Ebb you 3 are gonna go after that ship. The majority of our guests should be coming after the package and im sure ye can take care of yourselves, Tank can go with ye if you think youll need him. Tal your in charge, keep coms to a minimum and do whatever you need to to get us that ship. Cut their coms as soon as you can we dont want them to tip off any of the others. Once its secure let me know, we may need your help"

"The rest of us are going go after the package"

"We need to setup a defensive perimeter in the corridor leading to the lab. I dont want anything getting through there"

"Lets get to those labs and see what we can do"

"Tal i leave acquiring the ship in your hands"

    "Move out"
