    Imokilly 3-20 UCC 1-11

One of the weakest UCC teams I've seen in club championship in a long long time. No intercounty player i believe.

Farcical really. Fellas will drift in and out of college teams according to demands placed on them by their real clubs.
Imo UCC (or CIT) shouldn't be allowed compete in Cork SHC with players who play senior club hurling in other counties.
Why should a player be able to participate in senior hurling championships in 2 counties just because he happens to be in UCC.
A simple rule change required here - UCC students must nominate 1 club for the year.

A sign of the times, unfortunately.

I disagree with the college teams not being allowed play. When they're at full tilt with a full talent selection it's a great novelty for youngfellas getting to see intercounty stars from around the country (mostly leinster and munster) play in club games, and offers club players a chance to test themselves against some of the best. Plus it's not like their winning the county or getting even close every year.

It just so happens it fell the day after a lot of intercounty games at the weekend and so had to field a team with even their subkeeper Jack Barry playing at corner forward. Id expect a stronger team in the next round.

As for Imokilly, i hear Paudie Sull is going to the states for the summer. If so he's a big loss. I dont think they're as close to winning the county as some on PROC would have you believe. Aside from Lawton(s) and Harnedy the forwards arent up to much and the backs are only average.

the only issue I'd have with the colleges is there should be a minimum number of Cork based players. UCC's football team is like a Kerry U23 side a lot of the time

Yea at least CIT have a majority representation of Cork lads.

That said, i still believe that Colleges should go and possibly the Divisions with them

How can you make any serious argument for Divisions being barred improving the Cork Senior championship? Crazy talk.

Poor enough Junior team in fairness. Very disappointing that Histon and Mullins havent made the senior panel. Means we have no new backs for Sunday. Which means Jamie Sull will probably start. God almighty. *face palm*

    1. Ryan Price (O Donovan Rossa)
    2. Conor Dorman (Bishopstown)
    3. Eoin Cadogan (Douglas)
    4. James Loughrey (Mallow)
    5. Tomas Clancy (Fermoy)
    6. Brian O Driscoll (Tadhg MacCarthaigh)
    7. Kevin O Driscoll (Tadhg MacCarthaigh)
    8. Sean Kiely (Ballincollig)
    9. Ian Maguire (St Finbarr's)
    10. Colm O Driscoll (Tadhg MacCarthaigh)
    11. Paul Kerrigan (Nemo Rangers)
    12. Mark Collins (Castlehaven)
    13. Colm O Neill (Ballyclough)
    14. Brian Hurley (Castlehaven)
    15. John O Rourke (Carbery Rangers)
    Subs:
    16. Micheal Martin (Nemo Rangers)
    17. Daniel Goulding (Eire Og)
    18. Donncha O Connor (Ballydesmond)
    19. Luke Connolly (Nemo Rangers)
    20. Noel Galvin (Ballincollig)
    21. Peter Kelleher (Kilmichael)
    22. Ruairi Deane (Bantry Blues)
    23. Sean Powter (Douglas)
    24. Sean White (Clonakilty)

Some collection of honours won by Horgan:

A minor All Ireland in '67 and two U21's in '70 and '71

3 NHL , 6 Munster and 4 All Irelands with Cork . Hurler of the year in 1978 .

Only heard this now. As you say, a very distinctive and effective player for Cork in his day. Vaguely remember seeing him play v Castlegar in Athenry when they met c. 1980. RIP.

Mother of God, getting the run around from Tipp in a game of football. Summer will be very short in both codes

2-7 to 0-6 at HT, tipp penalty saved early on too

Ridiculous, but the second half will hopefully be better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,354 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Tipp with the wind now too, stretch their lead to 9 from the restart.

Kelleher on for Hurley, Deane on for Kiely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,354 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Deane black carded after 6 minutes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,354 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Mark Collins goal 2-11 to 1-9. Donnacha OConnor on for O'Neill

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 14,648 Mod ✭✭✭✭marno21

3-13 to 1-10 now. Surely that's the finish of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,354 ✭✭✭zetecescort

3-13 to 1-10 afyer Cork got the gap down to 4, Tipp intercepted a short kickout

Another goal for cork but I reckon it will be a Deserved win for tip. They have progressed well in recent years, had a good lead v Kerry last year, but made it count this year.
    Fair dues to them

Cork......well they got a right kick in the hole today, be interesting to see how they react !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,354 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Only three points in it now, you'd almost expect Cork to nick it!
