have you tried waking yourself early and trying to get into a habit of getting up early.
hopefully this will tell your body after a few days of exhaustion that you should be sleeping earlier.

when i cant sleep though, i usually use nytol. 2 of those and its of to sleep.

Try some 5-HTP, it sorts out my sleeping pattern when I sometimes forget to go to bed on the odd Saturday night.

I also find physical exhaustion is a great cure for insomnia, try a game of football in the evening.

    You need to lighten up.

Can't you, please, just give me something?

No. You need healthy, natural sleep. Chew some valerian root and get some more exercise

Oh yeah...you won't find anything useful from me. :D

I got the 5-HTP from my local Tony Quinn's health shop (€11 for 30). Got it on the net the time before.

You could try some lavender oil, either a few drops (around 5) in a bath or put some on your pillow.
    Should work.

Actually, Valerian root also know as Valerina is very good at promoting natural sleep.

I take Kalms or Valerina, both avaliable in your local "alternitive foods" store and i drift off about 30mins after taking.

Whatever doctor gave you tablets to cure insomnia should be strung up.

Alcohol induced sleep isn't really a "good type" of sleep.

Excercise more and cut sugar and caffeine out of your diet.

Give that a week and see how it goes (with or without herbal remedies).

Sleeping tablets mess with neurotransmitters and are really not ever ever ever meant for insomnia.

5-HTP, which aims to produce increased feelings of fullness, is a compound formed during serotonin synthesis from trytophan. According to the FDA, inconsistency in the production of this metabolite has led to impurities in certain appetite suppressants, which have caused serious illness.

Is there any life problem you are having that could be agitating your insomnia? Otherwise, why not just sleep when you body wants to sleep? I seem to remember Winston Churchill only slept 3 hours a day or something. Do stuff, learn a musical instrument, write a diary, if your body is awake - maybe it wants to do things instead of being forced to sleep?

    I dunno.

i drink camomile tea. and nytol, and kalms are good too for natural ways of helping u sleep. otherwise get stronger tabs! demand stronger tabs if ur doc isnt believing u that the others arnt working.

my sister cant sleep either. she was awake 48 hours a couple of days ago. she writes plays when she cant sleep...its just a suggestion!

ive got the opposite problem. i fall off to sleep fine then i wake up at three, then four, then six, then 7, then 8 , then9 and then i HAVE to get up or i sleep till noon!
