My favourite solo? Well to be honest it would have to be Morbid Angel's guitar solo by Trey Azagthoth on "Sworn to the Black". Great solo with a great song to go along with it.

My favourite drum solo would have to be Megadeth's Jimmy DeGrasso on the Rude Awakening Live cd. It just sounds brilliant tbh.

I haven't heard many bass solos apart from Cliff Burton's on Kill Em All so I'll have to say that one. It's pretty good anyhow.

    Triangle solos?

My favourite keyboard solo is Sonata Arctica's Tony Kakko on "Black Sheep", it's just excellent.

Note: these are not in my opinion the BEST solo's out there, if I was chosing them I would be picking from Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Hellhammer, Pete Sandoval etc.

fave guitar solo - the sweet child o mine sol, the run up is sheer brilliance

fave drum solo - Moby Dick by Led Zepplin, best drummer ever tbh!

Fave Bass solo - The start of N.I.B by Black Sabbath, i think its unofficially called Bassically

fave guitar solo - Spanking Stevie, dewl solos by Zappa and Vai Batling it out. The teacher wins

fave drum solo - It's a toughie, mody Dick is great. Terry Bozio does some great ones too. And i love the bit in the middle of Sabbaths Supernault. But Buddy Rich was the greatest. But this is a metal forum so i go with Mody dick.

Fave Bass solo - I can't think of the name but Cliff Burton did it. Flight of the Bummble Bee by Joey DeMio of ManowaR is great too.

Guitar - Nuno Bettencourt, its the long bugger he done at a live performance, flight of the bumblebee was in the middle of it, i you have heard it you'd know the one :)

Drums - Saw a good one by Mike Portnoy a while back, it was pretty good, mody dicks one is way over rated tho tbh.

Bass - NiB intro probably, 'the awakening' is more or less an entire solo, its pretty damn good aswell (by les claypool), I also got a les bass solo, which is also, pretty damn good.

fave guitar solo - Few of those. Andreas Kisser's one about 2/3 of the way through 'Territory' on the Chaos AD album. The end solo on 'November Rain' by GNR. The first solo on Slayers 'Angel of Death'. The one near the end of''Underneath the Waves' by Strapping young Lad. The one at the end of 'In the Rainy Season' by Strapping again.
fave drum solo - The one near the end of 'Angel of Death', again by Slayer.
Fave Bass solo - That one from 'No-One knows' by the QOTSA.

    Dream Theater - Fatal Tragedy

Guitar, keyboard, and bass combined to give this mega solo.

Favourite guitar solo - Probly The live aid version of sultans of swing but thats kinda the whole song so failing that sweet child of mine

fave drum solo - Moby Dick by Led Zepplin, best drummer ever tbh!
Ok dont get me wrong im a HUGE Zeppelin fan but John Bonham is not the greatest drummer ever, and moby dick doesnt really do anything for me. I think he overuses the double peddle.
Greatest drum solosist has to be Vinnie Colaiuda(spelling), have a 16 minute solo of him from a Ziljian workshop, its fecking amazing

Best bass solo - Crap whats that song again, feck it, its some paul simon one......You can call me al, think thats it.

Favourite keyboard solo - The solo in Claptons "everyday i get the blues"

You might be more impressed if you knew he was doing it on ONE foot.

guitar - i just love that little intro to plug in baby by muse

bass - the one in Maxwell Murders by rancid, but then matt freeman is the best bass player of all time.

cant think of drums or keys or a proper guitar solo, i'll have to get back to this...

Listening to Motorhead and Girlschool playing Please Don't touch recently. Some damn fine "duelling solos" there...

I love the solo to AC/DC's Moneytalks. Nice and simple, but just so very right...

Feck it ya sure thats what hes famous for. That and his triple paradiddle. How the hell did i forget that?

Still though even if he is only using one foot(ok that is pretty impressive) it still wouldnt make it my favourite solo. Colaiuda is known for his "MONDO" drum solos and his mastery of polyrhythms, and when those two are combined its jaw dropping.

"Time"- Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon.

Most David Gilmour, Slash, and Tom Morello solo's are amazing. They actually know how to put emotion in their playing, rather than fast "****" guitar like most metal bands. Anyone can play fast.

i have a few fave guitar solos, you could be mine solo, paradise city, anything goes, end part of november rain, double talking jive, coma is breathtaking - all GnR, iron maiden hallowed be thy name, some of thin lizzys dual stuff is cool, like a stone audioslave solo rocks, stairway to zeppelin solo, kickstart my heart motley crue, recently really got into the aerosmith crazy solo joe perry.
but my all time for the past year or so fave is poison's life goes on.
