Garda Horses

I was heading down Grafton St. last night and passed two Gardai on horses. Walked a bit further down the street and came across a rather nice mess left on the street by our equine friends!

Whilst dragging the soles of my shoes off the ground (I wasn't paying attention and discovered it slightly too late :(! )I started wondering, as dog owners are responsible for their dogs sh*t and cleaning it, are the Gardai responsible for their horses sh*t? I know it wouldn't be a viable option in clearing it up themselves, but then it's not a pretty sight on our streets (seeing some of them down on their hands and knees with a pooper-scooper, on the other hand, would be quite the picture :p)!

While the horses are damn impressive, I don't think they're worth the money spent to keep them "in service", so to speak.

And yea, it may look bad but horsesh!t is nowhere near as nasty as dogsh!t.

In New York the police horses wear nappies :D

Seriously - they wear nappies to stop the mess landing on the road. Well actually its more like a large bag.

The Garda horses are a good investment for the force. Not only for image reasons, but its been proven that horses can do the work of 20 men when it comes to crowd control.

    Silvera.

they have stunning horses don't they. They always seem to be huge and have gorgeous glossy coats. Also they have a formidable prescense being so large.
