Just send yourself a load of free messages on o2.ie, pretty easy. The most I've seen on my phone was 7 messages from 5 different people.

Isnt there a maximum of 37 messages or something that your phone can store? Surely no higher then 100..

most sim cards can only hold 20 - 30 odd messages.......

however the new phones like the 3510 seen here use their shared memory for storing messages numbers.........

ive recently come across two second hand ones and repaired one of them, one had 130 of someone elses messages on it, both had a load of numbers on them that belonged to their previous oweners.

If you want your numbers to be stored on your sim card( so when you take your sim out and put it in another phone you will not have lost any numbers) go to menu/ phonebook/ settings and select sim card as the memory in use.

Another point if you fill up your shared memory with messages and names you will not be able to store anymore java games/ ringtones etc as the memory will already be in use. However i don't know anyone who actually downloads games etc. so being able to store around 200 messages is cool.

The amount of messages that you can hold on your phone depends on the size of the messages.

i agree with despoiler on this one. No proof exactly (when my box is full somtimes it shows differnet amounts) but i know for a fact that it sorts messages by size.

as a matter of interest what phone do you have? If its a ohone that supports java game downloads or other shared memory files like bookmarks( im not sure what else the wap phones store) and also if your phone book is saved on both sim and phone memory than the amount of space available for messages will differ......also the amount of messages in your outbox etc eill affect the amount of messages you store...........

im not saying im right, far from it, this is just what i always believed. Thats why im wondering what phone you have and what makes despoiler think that the size affects how many you can store.

TBH ive been sent those screen saver picture message thingies, That say 1 message reicieved and has the aerial and battery bars on the sides picture, id say its a fake, but i do hear weinsta is a popular fella

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 272 ✭✭wiensta

    I wouldnt bother faking this!

Im not sure if the phone uses shared memory, it does in the phonebook (between sim and phone memory) but i dunno bout messages.

btw my inbox was full of delivery reports and no messages hence the large number.

p.s. aint the wide angle lens great? theyre so addictive to look through.. makes ya feel like yer 1 from the smack my b1tch up video

My simcard can hold 12 messages. Phone itself holds nothing.

/me reminds himself to register that upgrade sim card he got months ago. (Way more sms & phone spaces apparently)

    After he finds it

The amount of messages that can be held depends upon the sim card capacity and model of phone.

    It is what it's.
