Anyone familiar with frontier FE will know that every time you dock at a station, an avi file was loaded to show an actor, usually welcoming you to the station. I am speaking of the CD version here.

The acting was very poor. Also, some people have the floppy version, which means that there is simply a void on the left of the screen when they dock.

This makes the game less enjoyable in my view in comparison to say Frontier: Elite II which just used static images ( better than nothing ).

Anyway, I am thinking of making avis with the same file names as the originals ( I have a limited list which I hope to complete soon).

If anyone else is interested in this, let me know here. It could be done relatively easily with a few people involved. The avis could simply be static, 1 frame images (using the images from frontier elite maybe?).

If you're interested, or think you can help, please let me know.

considering how bloody akward everything about that game was i doubt it would be as easy as you imagine. the avis may be done in some crazy funky old codec that is not out there anymore and it may require the entire 20-30mb whatever size file to play and not a simple 1 frame file file.

get onto the author of jjffe. the guy as totally reverse engineered it to tun natively on windows. if anyone knows what to do it would be him.

I contacted the author of Sirroco Station, and it turns out that someone has already done this. Here's the reply I got.
