    Im setting off to the states this saturday and im travelling alone. Im just wondering what i should/can bring. Discmans? Gameboys? What is and isnt allowed and what about inflight movies and Screens? helpf meh!

    The Economist magazine. Easily 6 hours of reading there, doesn't need batteries and you can drop it in the bin when you arrive to keep your luggage light. Perfect :)

    Gameboy might be okay, but a discman certainly is not.
    No laser controlled/optical media players allowed. And given the nazi attitude of most air waitresses these days, it would not be a good idea to ignore this rule.

    A RAM based MP3 player should be fine though.
    Or, you could bring a copy of War and Peace, that should keep you going for a while.

    When we last flew to the states (With B.A.) we had excellent in-flight ent.

    Personal screens on the back of each seat. 6 movies & programs.

    Also brought magazines/book/Creative Jukebox with 1500 MP3's.

    I wasn't bored :) that much...

    What airline are you flying?

    Discmans are now allowed on Irish airlines but are allowed on most others.

    I flew with BA last october and they allowed Discmans...

    but make sure you have it ready to go just in case they ask to check it, have ur earphones handy and a cd inside so they can listen to see its working..

    Yeap and sneak up front and you get to play with the flat bed seats-hours of fun:D
