Who'll win La Primera Liga ?

5 games to go. It's very tight at the top with Deportivo, Real Sociedad and Real Madrid crawling towards the finishing line. I thought Depor would win it, but after losing to Valencia at the weekend I think Sociedad might actually do it. Madrid are the obvious choice so they will most likely blow it.

Have to go with Deportivo, there playing good stuff at the right time, and Real seem to be in a slump.

Makaay is having a great season, talk of him going to Utd.

I thought that Depor would take it too. Both them and Madrid have messed up now so maybe it's Sociedad turn to stuff up now. Too close to call but I'd like to see Sociedad do and then having a good run in the CL. But teh head says Depor will do it.

BTW I love that last option in the pole. Very true for the Utd supporters where I work. I'd say 95% of them didn't watch the CL semi's. Duno is it bitterness or that they are wearing blinkers

As Deportivo are the team I support in Spain, I obviously hope they do it, but that was a crap result at the weekend. I wouldn't mind if Real Sociedad win it actually, as long as it's not those Francoite $hitebags Real Madrid :)

(edit)as for the last poll option, too bloody true except add Celtic in as well - as I mentioned in another thread, I wanted to watch Real v Juventus in my local, but the mongs in there insisted on watching Celtic v Dundee or whatever bunch of no-hoper Scots they were playing instead  (/edit)

As long as its not Real, i hate seeing the media fellate them every time they win, poxy carlos in particular, if i had that many shots on goal in a game i'd bloody score as well !!! so its ABRM for me

I think Depor will do it. Defending champions and all, also they have the talent and resolve to win it.
If Depor fail, then preferably Sociedad over Real Madrid, because I hate Real. If Barcelona arent going to win anything then I certainly don't want Real to.

I think Madrid are good enough to go the whole 9 yards. They beat malaga 5-1(i think) at the weekend and with Ronaldo back fit i think they shud do it!! If not i'd say it'll be Deportivo i dont think sociedad are quite good enough to win it.

Deportivo won it in 1999/2000 - it was Valencia last year, and Real in the 00/01 season.

I thought I might have been wrong.
I couldn't remember if it was Valenica or Deprotivo.

Interesting most of yas are going for Depor. Considering they lost at home to Valencia on Saturday. Sociedad have been up there since the start of the season, very consistent team. I hope they do it, for Westerveld and Kvarme's sake. Legends ;)

    Must check the remaining fixtures...

    Sociedad i hope!

this brings about a question any footy fan should know the answer to:

What Irish player has scored the most goals at the Nou Camp?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,472 ✭✭✭Sposs

John Aldridge, cause he spent a few season playing for Sociedad?

Am i right? do i win a prize?

Looking at the run-ins, I think Sociedad can nick it. Depor will bottle their derby game on Sunday, and Madrid won't win at Valencia.

    I hope Sociedad win it.

Nihat (sp?) has been fantastic every time ive seen him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,164 ✭✭✭Space Coyote

Yeah Nihat and Kovacevic have been class all season. I think Liverpool should try and get their left-winger De Pedro, he's bloody good.

As for the prize......:p im keepin it!

Well, it looks like it's down to a two-horse race now. Can't see Depor fighting back from 6 points down with 3 games to go. Although stranger things have happened before.
    Next games are

    Real Madrid v Celta Vigo
    Real Sociedad v Valencia
Deportivo La Coruña v Athletic Bilbao

I'm still going for Sociedad. Come on the lads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,164 ✭✭✭Space Coyote

2 games to go in La Liga...still up for grabs

    Real Sociedad 73pts
    Real Madrid 72pts
    Deportivo 69pts

    remaining games
    15/06
    Celta Vigo V Real Sociedad
Atletico Madrid V Real Madrid
    Athletic Bilbao V Deportivo

    22/06
    Real Madrid V Athletic Billbao
    Deportivo V Espanyol
    Real Sociedad V Atletico Madrid

Madrid hammered Athletico 4-0 today, combined with Sociedad losing 3-2 to Celta Vigo means that those $hitebags in Madrid have all but go the trophy in the cabinet. :(

Where's that Athletico Madrid guy who posts here sometimes? Probably gone to top himself after that result :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,164 ✭✭✭Space Coyote

Can't see Madrid letting this one slip. At home to Bilbao, forget about it. Gits.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,818 ✭✭✭Bateman

In fairness, Athletic beat Depor at home last night, they'll be a stiff test for Madrid. Especially considering some of the teams that Madrid have dropped points against earlier in the season. I think it's there for Sociedad, last night was a drawback, but I just can't see Athlético putting it up to Sociedad, and I can see Athletic getting a result at the Barnebeau. Hopefully.

    Tonight's final results...

    Real Sociedad 3-0 Atletico Madrid
    Real Madrid 3-1 Athletic Bilbao

Real Madrid are champions for the 29th time. Ronaldo's first ever league title !!! Hard to believe.
