Swiss Say No to "No Nuclear |Energy" :(

In yesterday's referendum in Switzerland, both articles concerning curtailing the use of nuclear energy were defeated.

While the popular vote was - in once case - pretty close (40-something% to 50-something%), the Cantonal count was uniformly against adopting the resolutions.

One interesting note was that - with the exception of a "rubber stamping" of a military re-organisation, every article up for vote was defeated. This is typically indicative of the conservative voting pattern in Switzerland coming to the fore in times of economic uncertainty.

Maybe next time.....initiatives like this typically crop up every 5-15 years.

And a most typical example of the typical Swiss (or at least Swiss German) trait of being unable to say yes to anything. Quite frankly, Switzerland isn’t the pioneering and forward thinking place it once was
the Cantonal count was uniformly against adopting the resolutions.

Except the two Basles which voted yes IIRC.
