Do you mean the original trilogy novels. I was looking for them, but could only find the movie adaptions.

Read most of the novels, enjoyed 90% of them. Cracking good reads. The Rogue Squadron series was v.good. Currently reading the 'New Jedi Order' series. Its about an invasion of the known galaxy by an alien race from another, the Yuzhang Vong. They have this mad bio technology thing going on.

Really Really good set of books so far. I think there is about 10 or 12 of them out and more coming. The first one is called 'vector prime'. Cant remember who wrote it. Well worth picking up.

The New Jedi Order novels are very good.
Things get really shaken up in the galaxy and there are loads of references to non jedi order novels. The guys in lucasarts must have done some serious planning at some stage.

All of the novels are quite good but some are great, the X-Wing books especially (Bacta War - Quality ending), and the Thrawn trilogy. I tend to prefer the books with large battles, always have a game of Alliance or XvT afterwards :D

Just found this board seconds ago. Arrright :)

Read "Splinter of the Minds Eye" after New Hope. Hmm! But what sustained me till Empire came out was the Marvel comics. Very well put together. Most of the novels I've read recently seem to be so-so - game tie ins etc.

That dood on Big Brother (not a fan mesel' - She Who Must Be Obeyed deems it compulsary viewing) is a SW fan: Chewie is dead?? Noooooo!

Also I've heard Han and Leia marry in the universe the books are set in. With so many different writers, is this universe consistent?

But please tell me Jar Jar Binks is no more. If not - top credits paid to efficent bounty hunters. The pit of Sarlacc awaits! Bhowhaaaghhaaaaaahaaaaaa :=)

The expanded universe is fairly consistent, since very few, if any of the book timelines overlap, nor do the stories overlap too much.

Jar jar binks....who??? oh, him, you b4stard. i had almost forgotten about him ;)

No, he isnt at all present in the Expanded Universe.

and yes, Han and Leia marry, and have three kids, ahhhhh, how very american family dream like....

Does any one have all of the novels??

I have all the novels that are available in bookshops here (Dublin) but there are a few gaps. I know that one or two of the New Jedi Order are E-Novels but there are still gaps. Anyone else come across this?

I'm thinking of when the clone emporer returned and laid seige to Coruscant. There are references to this in some of the books. Maybe someone who has read the comics could fill me in on this

    thanks

I've been trying to find the book with the Reborn Emperor in it but it doesn't seem to exist. It's not even listed in the catalogue at the back of most of the books. Haven't read the New Jedi Order ones yet but the other ones are genius. Timothy Zahn is the man!!!

The reborn Emperor is in the Dark Empire comic series! I haven't read any of them but I have read about them off starwars.com. Luke turns to the Dark Side!

I have the first two of the Dark Empire comic trilogy.

Its good, but i find it a bit sketchy on details, and a lot seem to happen between the first and second part that is not explained.

Perhaps there was another comic series to bridge the two in some magazine or something

I havent for the life of me been able to get the last part, Empire's End.

I'd recommend getting the series if you can, they good reading boy.

Which are the ones in which Chewbacca dies? (OK, I watched Jon on Big Brother)

Read Clock of Deception. There's one thing in my mind that makes this book stand out from the other recent releases - Cloak of Deception is packed with clues to Episode II. I'd give it 2.5 out of 4.

Chewbacca dies in one of the earllier New Jedi Order books, can't remember exactly which one, but I think it's like the third or fourth book into it.

Rather a painful way to die.:(

i was going to write something short but it turned into this so i had to add the spoiler tag, it is a breif summary off all the books to date, but with a lot left out in case you want to read the books anyway, which i dvise you do. however there are a few things you need, there were several short one off stories in the star wars magazine and a book made only for E-book software. they arent essential but they help to fill out the time line.
Vector prime, the first book in the new series is where chewie dies
the next 4 books are centered on the the attempst by the solo's and the jedi to get recognition about this new threath which they aint being beleived about.
After that comes a wedge (not antilles) driven between the new republic and the jedi and the jedi are once again hunted.
yavin four gets occupied and the acadamy is destroyed. at this point part of the endgame story (jedi being the saviours of the new extra-galactical race) starts with anakin solo helping one of the new guys to reclaim his honor.
From this point on there is a series of technological leaps made by a team of jedi scientists allow then to effectivly strike back at the yuzhan vong. but the jedi hunter problem needed to be addressed so a bunch of the new jedi knights (see jedi kids books) are sent out on a mission when the second big twist happens, anakin dies. and jacen is captured.
at the same time coruscant is taken and remade into the aliens new capital as they claim the galaxy for thier own.
but due to crafty leadership of wedge antilles and some brilliant military victories the vong military is stretched so thin that it allows the new 'galactic alliance' to form and for the people to take a breather and prepare for the counter attack.
the last 3 books i have read have been about 2 things, the search for a fabled living world that fought off the vong before, and also the attempt to bring the imperial remnant into the fight.
