Not forgetting the stickies which cover these topics in more detail; the following is taken from the For Jobseekers section of www.tril.ie.

    APPLICATIONS:

Pass in formatted CV to the public email address of the targeted company

Follow up with a phone call 1 week later

If you are told that no positions are available ask the question – Do you foresee any positions becoming available over the next 3 months for which I may be applicable?

Ask if it is OK if you call at a later stage to see if the situation has changed.

Be polite and positive and realise that the person you are speaking to probably have numerous calls of this nature each day.

If given the option to leave a message, only leave one

If called for interview do not ask them to reschedule – reschedule your own diary

    INTERVIEWS:

Brush up your knowledge of FDA/IMB/ISO regulations

Try to speak with people in industry and attempt to get a fix on the various positions available to you and what they entail on a day-to-day basis.

Always research a company before you meet them for interview.

The more educated you are about a company and the role offered the more you will stand out from the crowd.

Always stay positive in an interview and use positive language.

Most interview processes will consist of:
    • 1st round screening interview
    • 2nd round final interview
    • Medical, Reference, Psychometric (Some or all of these)

    REALITY:

Recruitment companies can find it difficult to place Graduates due to the current environment

Do be conscious of the fact that there is a lot of competition in the market at present and that it can take a number of rejections before the right role comes along.

At graduate level it would be advised to take a look at all opportunities in all locations – don’t narrow your possibilities at this level

If you don’t succeed try, try again.

    USEFUL WEBSITES:

The Internet is an incredibly useful tool and should be used as much as possible. Here are some useful sites to get you started:
