    Hi All,

a question regarding Pocket PC devices - will a driver written for a Pocket PC device on an Ipaq, work on the same piece of hardware on, say, a the Dell Pocket PC?

In other words, is it like the PC platform - windows 2000 is still windows 2000, no matter who the hardware supplier is (Dell, IBM, Gateway) and once the driver is written for Windows 2000, it will work on any hardware running Windows 2000.

    Thanks,

    TD.

since PocketPC 2002 all the devcies run an ARM based processor - so the previous situation where it was a mix of ARM, MPIS and Hitachi was removed - saving app developers having to create different version and concentrate on the ARM based solution

for drivers the hardware can be very different - bluetooth interated or not, various types of memory slot integrated or not, consumer IrDA or regular IrDA, SDIO or regular SD.... so that's the reason you need to get specific ROM updates from the manufacturer for the particular model being used

    what's the driver for?

    It's for this

/me drools at the prospect of this with the Dell Axiam

It's a CF card that turns the pocket PC into a GSM phone.

PocketPC Wireless tested it out and did review in Oct - worth checking out. Some people commented on an incompatibility with the Toshiba PocketPC (seems there is a special T version coming out for the Toshiba). Worth asking if anyone has it running with the Axim there (or maybe more luck at the Axim site http://www.aximsite.com/) - bear in mind the networks will probably be unhelpful if you run into connectivity issues as they don't support it.

Site with manual and more info on it from the Audiovox Site.

Was looking at it also last year - but decided to stick with bluetooth (integrated / compact flash) to mobile phone.
