upload-only account

    What's the best way of creating an upload-only account? I'm using wu-ftp 2.6.2 on debian 3.0... If I create an account is there a way to stop them getting shell access but still being able to upload to (but not download from) ftp? Or is there a way of doing this without creating an account at all?
    Any suggestions appreciated, I'm a little clueless when it comes to administrating....

    You can give them write permissions to a directory, but not permissions to list the directories contents (+w -r).

    That way they'd need to know the filename to download it. I'm sure there's a proper answer to this, email the ILUG, ilug@linux.ie

    If you send the email tonight, you'll have half a dozen replies by lunch time tomorrow. No comparable irish linux resource.

    Anonymous FTP is generally set up in this way by default, so see the Guest and Upload Configuration HOWTO's here Jazz.

    anonymous upload was disabled by the previous admin for reasons best known to himself! Those HOWTO's are just what I need though, nice one dahamsta...
