Started watching BHD last night, got bored after the first hour, going to finish it off later tonight. Anyone else less than excited by it?

it loses ALL impact on small screen
Though to be fair it does become numbing after a while

One of the most overrated movies from last year, to be honest. 2 hours of gunfire and explosions without any reason to get excited or stay interested.

Films not a patch on the book. Just doesn't tell the story half aswell. Get the book its miles better. Its also is less US centric.

While like I said its not a patch on the book, its an ok film. Its no platoon, but its ok to watch. As for all the gunfire explosions and shouting, er what did you expect? Its a film about a battle that only lasted, what 24/48hrs at most. All that compressed into 2hrs?

Like many films it is "based on" - they even amalgamated two characters into one (one was convicted later of child rape and "omitted" from the film).

Wasnt that Ewan McGregor's character that was convicted of rape?

How can you be disappointed with this film, I though it was class!!
I though it was probably as close to realismas you can get (with todays standards) but I thought it was a great film!!

Next thing you'll be saying that Apocalypse Now was crap!

The problem is it almost exclusively focuses on the fighting and gives little context. It also changes facts. The book is a much better "product".

Are there any films that are better than the book they were based on?
