ftv card instant activation ?

a few posters have stated that ftv cards now activate as soon as they are put in digibox

why did they change the procedure at this stage if they (bbc) are going fta?
is it to get as many cards as possible activated before they stop issueing them to facilitate itv/ch4/ch5 ?

is it because they are closing down the activation phone line ?

anyone else seen this change of procedure ?
does this mean a signal is sent to the box once card is ordered ( ie: how does card know which box tis for )

will these new issue cards work in any box now that one does not have to phone up to activate ?

maybe its all nothing and these few card holders have just been lucky ?

sorry for all the questions :)

    Questions are good. :)

I should be getting my new FTV card next week and will let you know how the activation goes.

I can cofirm that a colleague of mine got a new FTV card this week, with a new-style letter attached saying insert card and channels will activate - and they did, instantly including BBC1.

I will try to get a copy of the letter and state what it says exactly.
