Well it's about God damn time.
Is it getting a world wide release on Nov 4th or just a R1 release?
mmmm I know what I'll be getting for my birthday anyway. :)

Excellent. All need now is all the origional star wars films.

What are the bets they will release in the following order:
    • Each film in special editions
    • The superbit version
    • DTS/DTS ES/ version

    Much the same as LOTR

Well.. the Paramount press release quotes the UK RRP (£42) so I'd say it's a solid bet that there's going to be a R2 release on November 4th.

[edit]I just noticed that I was reading from the UK press release, not the one linked above, so it's almost definitely getting a R2 release on the 4th[/edit]

Anyone heard much about the extras on it? Hotdog reported that Vic Armstrong had recorded a commentary, and I've also heard that John Rhs-Davies has recorded a commentary for 1 and 3. Anything else?

Yeah after I posted I checked out play.com and they have it there.
All they about the extras is
*Bonus 4th disc with over three hours of all-new bonus material including exclusive interviews, documentaries and more!
    So not much info there.

    here.

From the BBFC's website, some of the extras we can expect:
    • The Stunts of Indiana Jones
    • The Light and Magic of Indiana Jones
    • The Music of Indiana Jones
    • The "Making of" of each film

All nice, and worth looking forward to.. however, what's most worrying is that apparently the BBFC have had to cut 1m 6s from Temple of Doom. Anyone know what the story with that is? Is it from the actual film, or from one of the commentaries?

That page... scroll down to it. Seems that was always cut.Might be worthwhile getting the region1 discs though.

Actually, that's answered something I've always wondered about.. on a version of Temple of Doom I recorded from a Christmas showing, many years ago, it has the heart being ripped out. On the actual, store-bought tape, this scene is absent.

    Cheers :D

Last time RTE showed Temple of Doom it was uncut.
They should make the DVD uncut.

The version of Raiders of the lost ark that RTE sometimes shows is a digrace. I can only describe it as a bastardised version. It's completely uncut until near the end were they completely cut out the snake pit and the fight by the plane. And I mean completely cut out.

Indiana Jones Trilogy releasing to DVD

These films have been over shown on TV. I like the films but If I purchased them on DVD - I would watch them so rarely, it would be a complete waste of money.

They seem to be a permanent feature of St. Stephen's Day TV. I am not criticising the films but they way TV channels do keep re - showing particuler films.

I would probly include James Bond as another example.

Can't you see (unless they do a release specifically for Ireland). The BBFC insist that all DVD releases are the same as the cinematic releases unless they resubmit the features for classification again. That's why the original DVD release of Die Hard 3 had to be pulled even though it was 3 minutes shorter than the cinematic release (& both were different to the version shown on Irish telly - there are 2 cuts and a bad overdub in the current DVD release compared to the one RTE happily show on the box). The movie companies generally don't like resubmitting their movies just for DVD as the BBFC make it very complicated for them to do so.

    Yes I understand that.
By me saying they should make the dvd uncut it was really me saying I wish the dvd was uncut.

Is the region 1 version uncut? Or did they cut that too?

To those looking to buy it on DVD I have done the research. Play.com is the cheapest (even against US sites when you add shipping). If anyone finds it cheaper please let me know.

    Prick.

I'm taking the day off work on Monday so I can sit at home and watch all three back-to-back.

Fuck yeah, I need a girlfriend.

I've pre-ordered mine from Amazon and already taken Thursday and Friday off. Either way I should get to watch all three before the weekend whoop !!

Finally got a chance to watch the rest of Temple of Doom. Very impressive I must say. Although I don't have any home cinema so I cant experience it in all it's THX glory.
Oh and the R1 is uncut. That's the only reason I watched ToD first, just to make sure. Afaik R2 is cut.
