Since you became an adult* what's the longest you've gone without watching television?

Note : For the purposes of this survey first-time viewing of a video/dvd rental or purchase doesn't break you run (repeated viewings does!) and watching a live uncontrolled broadcast (eg sporting event, music event, awards ceremony etc) doesn't break your run either.

Also, just being in a room where a tv on in the room but you not actively watching it doesn't break your run either (except of course if you were the person who turned on the tv in the first place!).

So how long do you reckon you lasted? :)

    * = to stop all the smartalecs who will point out they probably never watched tv when they were a baby. :)

(Hmm, I've probably left some loophole in there somewhere but I think that's pretty well covered.)

I voted 6-12 months - it has been a LONG time since I sat down with the intention of being bored by the telleh.

When i first moved out of home into a flat with 2 of my mates, we didn't have a tv for ages. We just sat and talked and listened to music. We then got a tv but didn't watch it much, only for video's really... It was great having decent conversations for a change, not now it's just "change the f#king channel!"

    probably six months...

    just couldn't be arsed sometimes...

When I went to the gaelteacht to work we weren't allowed watch TV and when i got home i wasnt bothered any more....

    It stifles communication...

Plus awkward silences are what entertains me nowadays!

gave up tv for lent one or two years.... it was great as i had time to do worthwhile things for a change

the weird thing was after not watching it i couldn't believe how synthetic the canned laughter sounded, i wouldn't even have been aware of it

    I dont watch TV.

In fact, last thing I watched on TV was probably the last series of Oz.

I watch all my Movies/DVDs on my computer.

Didn't even watch Band Of Brothers when it was on TV.

Probly a week is the longest I've ever gone without telly. I watch way way too much. I can't stopwatching . I can spend hours and hours sitting in the couch watching complete rubbish, only getting up to get the blood circulating properly again! Man I need some hobbies :(
