    Hey,

Heading to Canada for nine months at the end of May. Flying into Toronto but I need to get over to Calgary as soon as possible pretty much once I arrive.

Just wondering if anyone knows if I go over on spec would I get a much better deal on a flight over there (last minute kinda thing) in the airport than I would from the web sites I could book with now?

    Not a chance.

The industry works on the basis that (amongst other things) the further ahead of time you purchase your ticket the cheaper it will be.

Various travel agents occasionally have the kind of 'last-minute' offers you're thinking of but anything along those lines is still gonna be available through the usual suspects (expedia, travelocity etc.. etc..)..

Whatever you do DONT show up at the airport hoping to get a deal from the airline. The only fares available there on the day are the most expensive and they'll let the seat go empty before selling you it cheaper.

I'm guessing you're traveling with Air Canada? If so try giving them a call and see if they have any fare they can offer you onwards from Toronto to connect with your inbound flight.

Great city btw try and spend some time there too if you can :)

cool, thanks for the heads up. I thought that there might be a "stand-by" option or something but never mind.

    travelocity it is! ;)
