Earthing problems with pickup in semi-acoustic...

I had a pickup installed in my Aria(just realised how dubious that sounds to anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about) about 2 years ago.

It's a single-coil Mimesis pickup that sits over the sound-hole(as oppose to the bridge) and the jack is situated by the strap-holder(replacing the original strap-holder). It works extremely well, even though there isn't an EQ or volume control.

The only problem I have seems to be with earthing. Depending on what way I'm facing, the consistent buzz(static) increases or decreases, but never completely dissipates.

It's a bit better in different venues / locations, but is always there regardless.

So, my question is: Is there anything I can do to remove this hiss? I'm not too up on electronics apart from what I've learned myself(very little!). The pickup was installed in "Perfect Pitch" in Dublin, and they did a fantastic job. It was about a quarter of the price I was quoted in Waltons, although THEY said they would have it "professionally installed". Would this have made any difference?

    Thanks for your time!
