Is this man a god or what, pure genuis. Looks like he will dominate Premier league football for a lot of years. 76 goals in 100 games is a phenomonal record.
His work rate is 2nd to none, he dives, no one will argue about that but his ability and work ethic is a joy to watch.
How the fuk va va voom won the PFA award ahead of him is beyond me. Suppose have to give arse whinger and his band of merry girls some award.

Correction... 79 goals out of 100 apps.

RVN is my player of the year! JOS is the young player of the year IMO.

Henry is a better player. RVN's goals are all close-range. Alex Ferguson says he improves every week, that's probably true, but FFS, he scores feck-all from outside the box.

Talk of one player dominating the Premiership for years is frankly ridiculous. I don't think we've seen the best of him yet, but in fairness, he's not that good. Glen Crowe's got a great strike rate in the past couple of seasons but you don't see people flocking to watch him. Everythings relative, so don't get carried away. If he was a Henry, he might have been able to carry the team a little more in Europe when other players went missing.

Yes but who has a PL winners medal this season??
    he's not that good

No he's not  So who is better? What is the job of a striker?? To score goals or to look good when he is running around the pitch?

And what team in the PL does Glen Crowe play for?? Daft comparision Bateman in all honesty. Shearer is supposidly a great striker, so is his scoring ratio as good?
If he was a Henry, he might have been able to carry the team a little more in Europe when other players went missing.

So if Henry is so good why did arse get knocked out at the 2nd stage.

I dont see the point in knocking the man for not taking shots fro outside the box....what he odes is infact worm his way into the box and puts the ball away. Who needs to shoot from otuside the box? :)

Strikers job is, surprisingly to score goals. No denying he does that! I rate a great striker by his work rate, goal scoring and technical ability. He has all these without even having to think.

Henry is also good but his inability to score the **** goals week in week out is why i think RVN is better. Would be interesting to see the two of em in the same team sometime. Would be phenomenal.

Bateman, why is the fact that he scores all his goals from close range something that you are making out to be bad? You saw his goal vs Charlton, it was close range but my god htf he score it. His reactions were lightning fast and his technique superb. (manu's 2nd)
Glen Crowe's got a great strike rate in the past couple of seasons but you don't see people flocking to watch him.

In fairness, Glen Crowe doesnt have the ability RVN has, not even close.

    Henry does both.

    See above

It pains me to say it but I gotta agree, Ruud's been fncking phenomenal since he moved to Utd, especially the last few months.

How many chances are created for RVN every game by Man U?

Compare that to the amount of chances that come Keanes way at Totenham, Beatties at Southampton or even Vidukas at Leeds!

Ill grant ye that hes a great striker but I wouldnt rate him as being any better than a half dozen others in the English Premiership.

    Henry is a forward

    RvN is a striker

    there is a big difference...

Dudes, it's easy to find faults with great forwards. If they didn't have faults they wouldn't be human. If Henry could get the tap-ins aswell as the wonder-goals then he would be one of the greatest forwards of all time. If Ruud could get the wonder-goals aswell as the tap-ins then ditto...

Mr. Bateman, what about Ruud's 50 yard run with the ball and incredible finish against Blackburn. Anyone that knows anything about professional football knows that that was nothing short of pure genius. Goal of the season imo.
And, this hurts me to say, but well done to man U. What a come-back!

Henry and RvN are two completely different players - they shouldnt be compared.

ruud is more of a poacher than an out and out striker. More like a rush and aldrige of the liverpool fame. The difference between him and rush and aldo is that he has enough skill to make chances for himself.

henry is a great striker of the ball and giftly fast - which is perfect for the way arsenal play. ruud wouldnt fit into arsneal, but then henry probably wouldn't fit in at united.

two tremendously great players - but I do believe RvN should have won player of the season. usited had much more to do to win the title this year than in any previuos year.

and RvN is probably one of the greatest united goalscorers in the past 20 years.

If Henry did the job he was supposed to instead of pissing about the left wing Arsenal would have scored those scabby goals that lost them the league.
Utd score form everywhere tapins ,frees ,outside the box (just not corners ) Arseanl overplay the ball.

And bateman saying RVN doenst score from outside the box hes not supposed to his job is in the box.

Guh, shake fist at stupid arguments. Both strikers are brilliant and I think Henry got the award because of his overall performances and his assists.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 32 claudius

the reason henry got the two awards is because the voting takes place way before the end of the season - in february, i think.

remember the uproar a few seasons ago when ginola won the pfa award (?). he was playing exceptionally well when the voting took place.

rvn probably doesn't give a flying ... that he hasn't won either of the awards. he's got more than adequate compensation. damn his eyes!

Granted RVN is a gifted player but he does not create as much for others as Henry does, i think at the moment it's

    RVN 24 goals 4 assists.
    TH 23 goals 15 assists.

Why are people leaving James Beattie out of this argument ? Surely he deserved a look in on the player of the year, scored 23 goals and has not had anything like the service that the two boys have had.

BTW Wonder how happy Sir Alex is gonna be on tuesday night ?

The real crime with those awards was Jenas over JOS :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,081 ✭✭✭BKtje

i agree with boinkmaster tbh, tho i can see why Jenas got it.

The voting for these awards is done in January, which is absolutely ridiculous imo. Half-way thru the season, what's the bloody point?! We didn't see the best of Josh or Ruud 'til well after Christmas, i would have voted for the two of them boys myself.
