I think i'd like to do photography in dun laoghaire institute so if anyone could tell me about how to get full marks in the portfolio or at least good marks it'd be a real help, also how many points is it? i looked in a book i have and it was just blank so i don't know what to expect.
Basically i want to know if it's within my reach with a leaving cert of about say...300?

    Not speaking from personal experience.
I have heard that they place more emphasis on your interview and portfolio than the number of points you have.

Film and photography are heavily interview based. Most people i know, who are going for photography, apply on UCAS for english colleges. Apparently its Uber hard to get in to a photography course in ireland.

Portfolio wise, Don't cram it with crap or average work, only top quality works.
Stay away from picture postcard pictures, and use interesting subject matter.
And some studio work (portraits ect.),scores you some nice brownie points.
Other than that its really down to talent,

    Good luck

oh yeah forgot to tell ya, your too late to apply on this years CAO,
Id advise you to do a portfolio course, such as the ones in Sallynoggin and Stillorgan. they're both very good.
