Hey man, I can only download one of your tracks and picked moonlight. It is very nice mate.

I love the fact that you have got piano on it, and used it as more of a bass feel. I loev piano and think that it is well under-rated but, hey, it gives us more uniqeness when we use it eh ;)

    Two things:
•I think the vibrato/trill you use when whistling makes the song sound too happy, I don't think it needs such a vibrato. A simple straight whistle in my ears would be far more melancholy.
•I think that the voclas should be slightly lower in the mix.

But it has a good vibe to it, keep it up man.

    Hey Gordon,
Thanks. Yeah I understand what you are saying about the whistling...but thats not an affect,...thats the way I whistle normaly! I know its weird, kind of tremelo.
I love piano too, it feels out the sound spectrum alot when you are doing things acoustically with guitar,..i.e. without bass and drum kit.
Did you mean that the rest of the links to mp3s are broken? I checked and they seem to be ok. If you like Moonlight, Distant is kind of laid back too.
    Thanks again.

Yeah man, got some good tunes there. Listened to moonlight, and am listening to Centre of the sea(Some nice guitar work on tis one, & that could easily be John Lennon on piano, good stuff). What did you use to record them with? I recently bought a sound card for my PC and am doing stuff that way, it's a clear sound. So what's your next move with all the songs you have? Do you gig at all?

    Hey Len,
I'm finishing off my Masters in Music Technology at the Universtiy of Limerick, so had access to the studio for the year which allowed me to record half of original songs that were lying around. Hoping to record the next 13 or so over the summer in the same place.
Yeah I used to gig around various places in Dublin last summer, Dorans, Ha'Penny Inn, and some other places with a friend. It was a double accostic guitar thing, lots of riffs and solos :)
Would like to take all the songs further, as in tour around ireland / busk around Europe but that stuff never happens really does it. This was more of a project to get the monkeys off my back. As the webpage says "unfinished songs are a burden to my creativity".
Thanks for listening & I appreciate the feedback.

    Just gave Moonlight a listen.
I have to say i liked it.
Not mad keen on the whistling at the start but thats not to say i don't like the melody line. Have you tried playing the melody with a different instrument? In fact the whistling wouldn't be all that bad if it was so vibrato, as was already mentioned.
The piano is really nice as well. It's not in your face, it's not standing out but if it wasn't there, it'd be missed.
I'll probably give the rest of the songs a listen at some stage.

    Killian

    Hey K!LL!@N,
I was trying to get away from using the old reliable guitar or piano melody line and just threw in the whistling to see what it sounded like. I agree that perhaps its too wobbley...but then again I didn't ask God for these big wobbley lips...its just the way I whistle :)
Anyone listen to any of the other songs? Thanks anway.

    Some cello might be nice.
If you know someone that has one you should see how it sounds.

Oh yeah, just heard from someone else with XP that it dosen't work either(ProTools Free). Try to get soundforge...I think I know someone using that....or maybe I'm totally mixing things up in my head.

Influences? Hmmm....I don't try to sound like anyone...but I learned to play the guitar playing Metallica and Pearl Jam stuff...so I suppose there you go. I love the acoustic sound of Alice in Chains and the Stone Temple Pilots unplugged...plus the Nirvana and Pearl Jam unplugged obviously...perhaps thats why I like recording all this stuff acoustically. There's nothing cooler than an acoustic guitar solo :ninja: Other musical stuff I like...Bob Marley...John Lennon...Led Zepplin....I'd say thats the lot of main influences anyway.

Playing guitar since 96, piano about 89...I think. 21 now.

Flynn, I think it should be ok if you just download 1 or two at at time. Don't play them from the website...just right click and save the target, etc. Its only a free geocities site so I cannot expect too much bandwidth.

In the process of recording the rest...other half of the collection. Will add them to the site in a month or so when I finish.

Mic setups...emmm...Neumann set to figure of eight for all guitar rhythms...AudioTech for the rest and leads. I tried more elaborate setups but at the end of the day they are a pain in the arse to put together and the sound wasn't much different.
