What are legitimate reasons for banning?

Two well loved members of the carlow it board, loismustdie and ratman were mercilessly banned from there home board today, and i fear it was done not out of loyalty to boards.ie but because of some sick powertrip by the moderator. The reason i'm putting this thread here is because although the moderator said to pm him but he has proven himelf to be very biast in his views of the pair. It seems they were banned for one week as a result of a comment made by snowball to loismustdie who was offended and saw that it was within her right to defend herself. When ratman, the gentleman came to her side to help her the moderator blamed them on the arguement and banned them. It may be argued that they were disrespectful when they predicted that the thread would be closed and toyed with the possibility that they culd be banned but they were only trying to lighten the athmosphere as they didn't want to continue an argument with the offender, snowball. the moderator, mordeth, made it clear that he had power over all the members when he threatened another member with the same punishment. Other members have expressed their anger with the treatment of loismustdie and ratman and appealed to mordeth to let them back on but he has refused to cooperate. Not only this but he is closing threads and even erasing posts that he personally doesn't agree with. He claims that this is because they are not relevent to carlow it but he has closed threads that are very relevent for example a thread set up by one of the other members calling on him to let ratman an loismustdie bak on carlow it and he has allowed posts that have nothing to do with college and which could easily be put somewhere else. He accused loismustdie of "attacking" snowball (Dara) but it is clear from previous posts that she only attacks in self defence and that she slags dara no more than anyone else slags anyone else. The moderator has failed to notice this though.

1. User spells own nick wrong when registering
2. User types out some long ranty boring post with no paragraph breaks, lousy grammar and text messagesque spelling
3. User being stupid
4. User posts cute, indignant polls
5. User under the presumption that boards is a democracy
6. User under the presumption that boards is the same as Real-life(tm)
7. User plays the Fight The Power or Set My People free cards
8. The Moderator in question is feeling irritable or hungover
9. It's funny
10. User perpatrates a thought crime
11. The dice lands on a 6, 3 or 5
12. User refuses sexual favours to Moderator

18. User is a Moderator and has banned Moderator from their Forum

2. User is a relative or friend of a Moderator
3. User has has blackmail material on a Moderator
4. User can supply certain illicit substances or services to Moderator
5. User adopts submissive role in the User/Moderator relationship
6. User calls moderator Daddy
7. User buys Moderator drinks (Boards Beer coming up, check Boards events for details.)
8. User is a member of the same Secret society or Clan
9. Moderator doesn't know how to use the Moderator Page Of Wrath
10. User is trolling

Yay, my opinion counts. If Mordeth banned you from his forum, I believe he had a good reason. Considering that a DeVore intervention occured, you should probably try to not be noticed any more if you wish to continue using boards.

However your notions of democracy intrigue me. I don't believe it works terribly well myself, but I love to hear crazy theories.
