Why TQM workes beter in some organisation?

    Hey all,

    Just wondering whay TQM works better in some organisations? Its a question coming up in exams next week and i know i could waffle all about TQM but it wont answer the question too well...any bulet points/ideas?

    Any quality management system needs to be appropriate to the setting (see the film "Office Space" and TPS reports), all to often the paperwork and not the real work becomes the raison d'etre of a department. People also need to be shown how to use a system and what benefits it can provide, otherwise resentment can build up. A certain level of standardisation also needs ot exist. Most of all the system must make real results / benefits.

    Oh, also, the organisation also needs to be able to work in the event of (a) a breakdown of the system (b) interaction with an organisation that doesn't have such a system.

    Also the system needs to evolve.
